## The honest read

A. Belmonte & Son is a Smithfield, RI fence company; its website says it installs and repairs wood, vinyl, aluminum and metal fences for homeowners and businesses in Smithfield and surrounding areas.

In a recent Google review, a customer said the company replaced cedar panels on a stockade fence and straightened cemented metal poles that had tilted. That customer said the panel replacement was complete within one day, with the old panels discarded the same day. A recent customer said Anthony designed and installed an automated gate system at their house in Saunderstown, RI. A recent customer had a small section of white vinyl double rail fencing installed by Anthony and his crew, and said communication held up from the initial estimate through rain delays to the final walk-through.

In a 2021 review, a customer said the company installed a white vinyl fence on a sloped backyard, tight to the ground. In a 2020 review, a customer said Anthony and his men set each post with old-fashioned post hole diggers because trees blocked their tractor, and built a sloping part of the fence by hand. That 2020 customer called the price very fair for all the work. In a 2018 review, a customer said the crew moved a post and rail section a few feet from where the customer wanted it, and Anthony came back and redid the job at no charge.

Its Better Business Bureau grade is A+.

**Strengths:**
- One-day panel replacement — a recent customer said it was complete within one day
- An automated gate — a recent customer said Anthony designed and installed it
- A sloped backyard fence — a 2021 customer said it was installed tight to the ground
- A no-charge redo — a 2018 customer said Anthony redid a post and rail section

**Where sources disagree:**
- The company's website states over 25 years of experience in one place and 5 years in business in another.
