## The honest read

Above & Beyond Tree Service is a Smithfield tree company with 4.9 stars from 144 Google ratings. Its website says Geoff owns and operates the business and has been involved in tree work for over 25 years, and it names Cumberland, Lincoln, North Smithfield, Greenville, Pawtucket and Woonsocket among the towns it serves.

A recent customer described a large, dying tree whose branches had fallen and damaged a picket fence, with limbs close to power lines, and said Geoff Mongeon, the owner, and his crew addressed it in a timely way; it was their third time using the company for tree removal. A recent customer with a dead backyard tree and a hanging branch said Geoff gave the best quote of those they shopped, and when the job was a few weeks out and they worried the branch would fall on one of their dogs, he bumped them up on the schedule. A recent customer who needed tree work for the first time after moving in said they chose the company because Geoff was knowledgeable, and that the crew cleaned up when the work was finished.

A 2023 customer said Geoff advised on the health of each tree and its place in the landscape, so they could decide what to trim and what to remove. In a 2021 review, a customer said the company came with 6 trucks to remove a pine tree, trim maple branches next to incoming power and telephone lines, and trim low branches and dead wood from an oak, and that it came in as the lowest quote. A 2020 customer said that when an 80-foot red oak fell in their yard and onto a neighbor's property, Geoff came right over, put together a plan to keep everyone safe and adjusted his schedule to do the job the next morning. A 2022 customer said all work was done per the estimate, plus a couple of things not in the estimate at no charge.

In a 2021 r/RhodeIsland thread, a commenter recommended the company out of Smithfield and said Geoff helped them out of two tough spots.

**Strengths:**
- Tree removal — a recent customer described a dying tree near power lines
- Earlier slot — a recent customer said Geoff bumped them up the schedule
- Tree-by-tree advice — a 2023 customer said Geoff advised on each tree
- Extra work, no charge — a 2022 customer said extra items cost nothing
