The Better Business Bureau lists the business as started in 2013, and Cortez holds a Massachusetts home inspector license, current on the state registry; the number he lists on his own site matches it. He's also an ASHI member in good standing and holds ASHI's Certified Inspector (ACI) credential. A pair of Google reviews, from 2020 and 2021, describe repeat and referral business rather than one-off jobs. One client, on a third use, called him ultra-responsive and pointed to his preventive-maintenance tips as a reason she kept coming back and recommending him. Another, referred by a sibling, hired him while she and her fiancée were buying their first home. The Better Business Bureau grades the company A+, though it hasn't published a star average or complaint count of its own for the business. Academy suits a buyer who wants the same inspector for repeat business in the Greater Boston/MetroWest corridor; because it's a one-person operation, confirm scheduling directly, and ask up front if you want radon or water testing bundled into the inspection. **Strengths:** - Repeat client praise — a 2021 review called him ultra-responsive with useful tips - A+ BBB rating — Better Business Bureau grades the company A+ - Licensed inspector — Massachusetts home inspector license current on the state registry - ASHI credentialed — member plus Certified Inspector (ACI) designation ## Claims & citations Every claim below is backed by real evidence rows — uncited claims are dropped in code before publication. - One-inspector, owner-operated home inspection company covering Greater Boston and MetroWest, offering buyer and seller inspections plus radon and water testing _(confidence: high)_ - [Official Website](http://www.academyhomeinspections.com) — “A one-inspector, owner-operated home inspection company covering Massachusetts with a concentration in Greater Boston and MetroWest, offerin…” - The Better Business Bureau lists the business as started in 2013 _(confidence: medium)_ - [Better Business Bureau](https://www.bbb.org/us/ma/waltham/profile/real-estate-services/academy-home-inspections-llc-0021-511778) — “BBB profile for Academy Home Inspections, LLC at 36 Harris St, Waltham MA: NOT BBB Accredited, BBB Rating A+, Years in Business 13, BBB file…” - Brett W.
