Last 6 months: 35 reviews, 0 negative. ## The honest read Almost 3,000 square feet of hardwood refinished in just 3 days: that is the job a September 2026 Google reviewer describes from AGW Hardwood Floors, a Guilford refinishing and installation company run, by one October 2026 reviewer's account, by owner Armand Amendola and his son Zach. It holds 5 stars from 367 Google ratings, and its website claims 65 years in business across towns from Guilford and Madison to Old Lyme, Wallingford and Waterford. A May 2026 reviewer had 85 year old floors with worn and yellowed finish refinished within 3 days, with the work area sealed off against dust. A July 2026 customer had old, dark, scratched pine floors refinished after the crew tried different stain samples, and red oak installed in the kitchen. A March 2026 reviewer's floors, orange and pitted after more than 20 years, came back with a natural finish. In an October 2026 review, the company also had carpenters cut back a large stair landing alongside the refinish. The smaller touches show up too. A May 2026 reviewer said Armand answered the first inquiry almost immediately, visited the next day, sent a quote hours later and brought felt pads and a cleaning kit at the end. A June 2026 customer mentioned flush mount grilles matched to the floors. In a 2025 review, a split-level house was done in two stages so the customer could stay in the house while the work went on. Its Connecticut HIC license, HIC.0630350, is active on the state registry. The BBB grades the company B- and lists one complaint. In a May 2025 Google review, a customer said the glue used on wide upstairs boards was not the full-spread glue the contract named, leaving quarter-inch gaps; that workers damaged a 10 ft sliding door and used the customer's new appliance to heat food; and that heating vents did not fit. The reviewer wrote that they were compensated for the door and the floor but still had to bring in other contractors for repairs. **Strengths:** - Fast refinishing — almost 3,000 square feet done in 3 days - Old floor restoration — 85-year-old and old pine floors brought back - Stain sampling — crews test colors before committing **Concerns:** - BBB grade B- — the BBB lists one complaint - Install dispute — a 2025 review cites gaps and a damaged door ## Claims & citations Every claim below is backed by real evidence rows — uncited claims are dropped in code before publication. - 5 stars from 367 Google ratings; 5.0 from 99 on Angi _(confidence: high)_ - [Google](https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1&query=AGW%20Hardwood%20Floors%20LLC&query_place_id=ChIJV5Tx3dnS54kR1hb9liy27Ow) — “Google: 5★ from 367 ratings” - [Angi](https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/ct/guilford/a-g-w-hardwood-floors-llc-reviews-1.htm) — “Angi: 5.0★ from 99 ratings” - Connecticut HIC license HIC.0630350 is active on the state registry _(confidence: high)_ - [State License Registry](https://www.elicense.ct.gov/Lookup/LicenseLookup.aspx) — “CT hic license HIC.0630350 registry-verified active — registry holder of record: AGW HARDWOOD FLOORS LLC” - Run by owner Armand Amendola with his son Zach, per an October 2026 review _(confidence: medium)_ - [Google Reviews](https://www.google.com/maps/reviews/data=!4m8!14m7!1m6!2m5!1sCi9DQUlRQUNvZENodHljRjlvT2pOSk1YUk5ReTFTZUZWNFNVdERaRTVPVDJ0Q2NVRRAB!2m1!1s0x0:0xececb62c96fd16d6!3m1!1s2@1:CAIQACodChtycF9oOjNJMXRNQy1SeFV4SUtDZE5OT2tCcUE%7C%7C?hl=en-US) — “5★ My husband and I chose AGW to refinish our home’s 30 year old floors.
