That 2024 customer wrote that Alex went over, was not confident the heat exchanger was cracked, and checked that the part was still under warranty. The same 2024 customer said that if the heat exchanger did need replacing, it would cost around $700, against the $7000 other companies had quoted for a furnace replacement. In a 2024 review, a customer described several inches of water in several rooms on the lower level of the house. That 2024 customer said Alex spent about 45 minutes trying to find the cause, concluded the debris and wet areas came from a sewer backup on the property, and recommended a specialist to check the sewer system leading to the house. A 2023 customer who had worked with Alex since before his company was started wrote that they had used him for both plumbing and heating. In a 2023 review, a customer said Alex came to evaluate the issue and give a quote, explained what was wrong and how it needed to be repaired, and scheduled a time that fit the customer's work hours; that 2023 customer called the price very reasonable. A 2022 customer said Alex solved a leaky faucet problem on the spot. A 2025 familyhandyman.com article names Alexander Siv as the owner of Amherst Heating and Plumbing in Amherst, Massachusetts. Its BBB grade is A+. The company's Massachusetts plumber license, number 9628353-PL-C, is active on the state registry. **Strengths:** - Furnace second opinion — a 2024 customer said Alex doubted a cracked heat exchanger - A flood diagnosis — a 2024 customer said Alex pinned it on a sewer backup - A leaky faucet — a 2022 customer said Alex solved it on the spot - A clear explanation — a 2023 customer said Alex explained what needed repair ## Claims & citations Every claim below is backed by real evidence rows — uncited claims are dropped in code before publication. - A 2024 customer said Alex was not confident a rental property's furnace had a cracked heat exchanger, checked that the part was still under warranty, and put a possible repair at around $700 against the $7000 others quoted for a replacement _(confidence: high)_ - [HomeAdvisor](https://www.homeadvisor.com/rated.ALEXANDERSIV.113525336.html) — “5★ I was told by a reputable HVAC business in the area that a furnace in a rental property had a cracked heat exchanger and needed to be rep…” - [Angi](https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/ma/amherst/amherst-plumbing-heating-llc-reviews-1.htm) — “I was told by a reputable HVAC business in the area that a furnace in a rental property had a cracked heat exchanger and needed to be replac…” - A 2024 customer said Alex concluded flooding debris and wet areas came from a sewer backup on the property and recommended a sewer specialist _(confidence: high)_ - [HomeAdvisor](https://www.homeadvisor.com/rated.ALEXANDERSIV.113525336.html) — “5★ By the time Alex had arrived at our place, the flooding has ceased.
