## The honest read

Archwright builds the kind of coastal house that ends up photographed: in August 2024 New England Home credited the Duxbury firm as builder on a project designed by SV Design, and its Houzz galleries run to Sudbury, Cohasset and Wellesley, with typical job costs listed from $50,000 up to $10 million.

Cara Meneses founded the company in 2016 and is named president and owner on its site, with Michael Mailloux as vice president following a leadership transition the company announced in January 2026. Alongside new construction and renovation, Archwright offers ongoing estate management for the homes it builds — a longer relationship than a single project.

The company lists a run of recognition: Best of Boston Home in 2025, "Best of South Shore" for custom home builder in 2024, work featured in the Boston Design Guide (2025) and the Cape & Islands Design Guide (2026), and a 2025 BRICC award for its website. Independent of that, a July 2023 South Shore Home Life & Style item listed Archwright under best custom home builder, and in an August 2023 piece on a window supplier's site, Meneses said a new home had been completed in 11 months.

For a high-end build or renovation on the South Shore or the Cape, this is a firm whose finished work has been published and photographed. Ask who will run your job day to day after the January 2026 change at the top, get the schedule and the allowances written into the contract, and ask to walk a recently finished house before you sign.

**Strengths:**
- Published work — New England Home credited the firm on a 2024 build
- Custom coastal homes — Houzz galleries in Sudbury, Cohasset and Wellesley
- Estate management — ongoing care for the homes it builds
- Local best-of lists — a July 2023 item named it best custom builder

**Concerns:**
- Leadership change — the company announced a transition in January 2026

**Where sources disagree:**
- Houzz's About blurb names Brian Lafauce and Cara Aupperlee as principals, while the company's own site names Cara Meneses as president and Michael Mailloux as vice president.
