## The honest read

Auggie's Painting is a painting company in Hudson. The company says its painting service has been around since 1989 and names Rick Agostinho as its owner.

In a 2017 review, a customer described Rick's interior painting of nine rooms in a 1910 house with horsehair plaster: the contract covered prepping, 2-3 coats of compound to repair walls and holes, primer, 2 coats of color and 2 coats of ceiling paint, and that customer wrote that the walls came out practically mirror smooth. In a 2016 review, a customer wrote that Rick recognized a calcimine ceiling that other contractors had unsuccessfully repaired 3 times, and that for the first time the work was holding. In a 2019 review, a couple who had stripped the paint off a turn-of-the-century tin ceiling wrote that Rick and Alex repainted it and that the ceiling came out beautiful at a reasonable price.

In a 2019 review of a 120-year-old house, a customer wrote that the power washing of a porch nearly black with mold took many hours, that rotted wood was prepped, patched and some boards replaced, and that Rick also painted the bulkhead and 2 doors. In a 2018 review, a customer wrote that Rick removed textured popcorn ceilings from a large portion of the house and that the work was completed 3 days before it was promised. In a 2019 review, a customer wrote that Rick re-did a complete side of the house's finish coat after a pop-up rain shower left a few streaks.

In a 2018 review, a customer whose second floor had been rewired after an electrical fire wrote that Rick and his crew patched the holes left by the electricians and protected the newly refinished floors and door hardware. That 2018 customer wrote that they were not the cheapest, but that their quality of work was worth the money. In another 2018 review, a customer wrote that pricing was on the higher end compared to a few other quotes.

**Strengths:**
- Old plaster walls — 2017 review described nine rooms made practically mirror smooth
- Calcimine ceiling repair — work held after 3 failed repairs, per 2016 review
- Rain-streak redo — 2019 review said a full side was re-coated

**Concerns:**
- Higher pricing — 2018 review said it ran above other quotes
