## The honest read

Across 72 Google ratings, B&B Overhead Door LLC averages 4.8 stars. BuildZoom describes the company as serving the greater Newington, Connecticut area with installation, repair and maintenance of residential and commercial garage doors, and its website lists a service area that includes Hartford, New Britain, Meriden and Wallingford. The company says it has been in business for 35 years.

One recent customer had two garage doors and an opener installed. A customer whose home is over 50 years old said the company did not try to oversell, and that installing a more modern setup brought a couple of challenges, which they handled. A recent reviewer wrote that the company replaced a garage door and converted coil springs to a torsion spring.

A 2026 customer said AJ replaced their cables and springs and let them know some things to look out for in the future; that customer wrote that another company had quoted a repair cost nearly four times what they paid here. A 2025 customer said Jim replaced both torsion springs, lubed the door and cleaned up after himself. A 2025 reviewer wrote that AJ repaired existing openers they thought needed replacing, at considerable savings. A 2025 customer said Jim came out the day after the call with a quote and got a custom-size opener job done, where other people they called said it couldn't be done. A 2024 customer said that when an odd-size new metal door wound up between spring ratings, the owner personally came out to assess and correct it. A 2022 customer said a broken spring had also broken two pulleys, and the tech had the job done in 20 minutes.

In a 2026 r/Connecticut comment, a Reddit user wrote of positive experiences with B&B Overhead Doors.

A 2022 customer gave two stars after being charged twice on a card for services on one day, writing that they would dispute a $280 duplicate charge and that the answering machine did not accept voicemails.

Connecticut lists its home improvement contractor registration, HIC.0578977, as active, held by B & B OVERHEAD DOOR LLC.
