## The honest read

Blue Jay Carpentry is a one-person finish-carpentry business run by Jay Sweeney out of Danvers, covering roughly a 20-mile radius of the North Shore — the company says Jay has worked commercial and residential carpentry for over 15 years before shifting to high-end finish work, and describes itself as family-owned, with his wife Maura running the business side.

All three Google reviews on file, from March through June 2026, describe custom built-in work in older homes. One homeowner with "nothing square" in their old house had Jay build custom shelving and bathroom built-ins that "look like they've always been part of the house," and noted he handled a surprise plumbing snag mid-job without missing a beat. Others praise built-in cabinets made to their vision, fair pricing, and a tidy job site — one reviewer specifically noted never worrying about tools or materials left out around a toddler.

For custom built-ins, trim and finish carpentry — especially in an older, out-of-square house — reviewers describe exactly that kind of careful, detail-oriented fit.

**Strengths:**
- Old-house built-ins — shelving and cabinets that look original
- Tidy job sites — kept tools and materials out of the way
- Fair pricing — reviewers cite reasonable, transparent quotes
