The company says it has been in business for 38 years, serves Montague, offers free estimates and is insured. In a December 2024 Google review, a homeowner described a boiler that made a thudding noise each winter when it started. Earlier service providers had improved the noise without eliminating it. The reviewer said Bob, whom they identified as the owner, scheduled technician Brian. After checking several possible causes, Brian examined the flame and changed the nozzle; the homeowner said the problem was completely fixed. An October 2020 reviewer described a different experience. Their mother's boiler stopped providing heat and hot water the day after annual service. They said a return call came three hours after their morning call, but the business wanted them to troubleshoot by phone and would not come out to check it. The reviewer said another company ultimately made the repair. A June 2020 customer praised the prices and personable service. In an August 2015 review, another customer said they had used Bob's twice in five years, both times for emergencies, and praised the work on both occasions. Google lists a 4.4-star average from seven ratings. **Strengths:** - Boiler noise repair — a December 2024 reviewer said a nozzle change resolved it - Emergency service — an August 2015 reviewer praised two emergency visits - Free estimates — advertised by the company **Concerns:** - Service follow-up — an October 2020 reviewer reported refusal to revisit a failed boiler ## Claims & citations Every claim below is backed by real evidence rows — uncited claims are dropped in code before publication. - The company says it has been in business for 38 years and serves Montague. _(confidence: high)_ - [Official Website](https://bobsoilburnerservice.com) — “Self-reported 38 years in business” - [Official Website](https://bobsoilburnerservice.com) — “Stated service area (self-reported): Montague” - The company advertises free estimates and says it is insured. _(confidence: high)_ - [Official Website](https://bobsoilburnerservice.com) — “Stated offer (self-reported): free estimates” - [Official Website](https://bobsoilburnerservice.com) — “Stated offer (self-reported): insured” - The company describes annual oil-heating maintenance and repairs as its specialty. _(confidence: high)_ - [Official Website](https://bobsoilburnerservice.com) — “About (self-reported, verbatim): BOB'S OIL BURNER SERVICE specializes in the annual maintenance and repairs that are needed to ensure that t…” - A December 2024 reviewer said technician Brian changed a boiler nozzle and eliminated a recurring thudding noise. _(confidence: high)_ - [Google Reviews](https://maps.google.com/?cid=13366642108680979325&g_mp=CiVnb29nbGUubWFwcy5wbGFjZXMudjEuUGxhY2VzLkdldFBsYWNlEAIYBCAA) — “5★ I recently needed service on my home oil burner/boiler.
