Founded in 1999 by David 'Dave' Wilkinson, the company describes itself as family-owned: Wilkinson's brother Brian works as the hands-on Job Superintendent and Project Manager, and the site credits its core group of carpenters and tradespeople for the business's run. Its stated service area covers Upton, Hopkinton, Ashland, Wayland, Natick, and Needham. Its Massachusetts Home Improvement Contractor registration (#128293) is active per the state registry. BuildZoom independently confirmed the same license and pulled four building permits: a project in Upton (2025), one in Westborough (2023), a finished basement, master bath, and kitchen in Berlin (2018), and a $145,000 addition/renovation on Paulina Street in Somerville (2016) — a real, if scattered, project trail across nearly a decade. BuildZoom itself hasn't logged any customer reviews for the company. One thing worth checking directly: BuildZoom lists a phone number for the company that differs from the office line on Brenshaw's own site, so confirm which one is current before calling. **Strengths:** - Registry-verified license — active MA Home Improvement Contractor registration - Permit trail — four building permits from 2016 to 2025 across MetroWest towns - Family-owned — founded 1999, brothers Dave and Brian Wilkinson still running it **Where sources disagree:** - BuildZoom lists a phone number for the company, (508) 509-7683, that differs from Brenshaw's own published office line, (508) 482-0800. ## Claims & citations Every claim below is backed by real evidence rows — uncited claims are dropped in code before publication. - Massachusetts Home Improvement Contractor registration (#128293) is active, verified against the state registry _(confidence: high)_ - [State License Registry](https://contractorhub.mass.gov/s/hic-contractor-search) — “MA hic license 128293 registry-verified active — registry holder of record: Brenshaw Corporation” - BuildZoom independently lists the same HIC license (#128293) as active as of July 2026 _(confidence: medium)_ - [BuildZoom](https://www.buildzoom.com/contractor/brenshaw-corporation) — “Licence listed on BuildZoom: License #128293 — Status: Active, State: Massachusetts, Type: Home Improvement Contractor” - BuildZoom pulled four building permits spanning 2016 to 2025: a 2025 Upton project, a 2023 Westborough project, a 2018 Berlin job (finished basement, master bath, kitchen), and a $145,000 2016 addition/renovation at 17 Paulina St, Somerville _(confidence: medium)_ - [BuildZoom](https://www.buildzoom.com/contractor/brenshaw-corporation) — “4 project(s) shown on BuildZoom” - [BuildZoom](https://www.buildzoom.com/contractor/brenshaw-corporation) — “A genuine BuildZoom profile for Brenshaw Corporation at 8 Pond Street, Upton, MA 01568, listing David J Wilkinson as responsible person/owne…” - Family-owned; founded 1999 by David Wilkinson, with brother Brian Wilkinson serving as Job Superintendent/Project Manager _(confidence: medium)_ - [Official Website](https://brenshawcustomhomes.com) — “Company history (self-reported): The site states: 'Since 1999 Brenshaw Corporation, founded by David Wilkinson, has been building fine custo…” - [Official Website](https://brenshawcustomhomes.com) — “Ownership (self-reported): David 'Dave' Wilkinson is named as President & Founder and his brother Brian Wilkinson as Job Superintendent/Proj…” - Stated service area covers Upton, Hopkinton, Ashland, Wayland, Natick, and Needham _(confidence: medium)_ - [Official Website](https://brenshawcustomhomes.com) — “Stated service area (self-reported): Upton, Hopkinton, Ashland, Wayland, Natick, Needham” - Specializes in General Contractor / Remodeling _(confidence: high)_ - [Official Website](https://brenshawcustomhomes.com) — “A MetroWest Massachusetts custom home builder and general contractor that builds new custom houses to clients' or collaborating architects' …” - Also offers Kitchen Remodel _(confidence: low)_ - [BuildZoom](https://www.buildzoom.com/contractor/brenshaw-corporation) — “A genuine BuildZoom profile for Brenshaw Corporation at 8 Pond Street, Upton, MA 01568, listing David J Wilkinson as responsible person/owne…” - Also offers Bathroom Remodel _(confidence: low)_ - [BuildZoom](https://www.buildzoom.com/contractor/brenshaw-corporation) — “A genuine BuildZoom profile for Brenshaw Corporation at 8 Pond Street, Upton, MA 01568, listing David J Wilkinson as responsible person/owne…” ## Ownership - Identifies as family-owned — the business's own statement, not independently verified. ## License Status: **active** (#128293, hic) — verified against the official MA state registry on 2026-08-11, never self-reported.
