## The honest read

Brown Roofing Inc is a roofing and exterior contractor at 12 Progress Ave. in Seymour, Connecticut. The company's site says it has been in business 54 years and lists roof replacement, metal and flat roofing, roof repair, ice dam removal, gutters, vinyl siding, chimney repair, windows and doors, and skylights and sun tunnels. A roofingcontractor.com story says the company launched "Roofing for Humanity" and gave the widow of former Botsford Fire Rescue Chief Richard Brady a new roof.

Its Connecticut home improvement contractor registration HIC.0549011 is active, held by BROWN ROOFING CO INC.

Google shows 4.8 stars from 1094 ratings, Angi and HomeAdvisor 4.5 from 24 each, and Thumbtack 4.2 from 6. Roof replacements finished in a day are the common thread: an October 2025 review says Austin checked the roof by drone and the crew stripped and re-roofed a 3000 sq. ft. colonial the same day, an April 2026 review says a scheduled 2-day job was done in 1 day under supervisor Guery, and a June 2026 review describes a close to 5,000 square feet roof done in two days with nails cleared by magnet. The service department comes up by name in 2026, with Dave thanked for repairs and gutter fixes. An August 2026 review of new vinyl siding and gutters says the final bill was not a penny more than quoted and the crew did extra repairs at no cost, and a September 2026 siding review says the original crew left soffit work exposed for two days before management replaced the crew and brought in Guery to finish.

The complaints center on follow-through and pricing. An August 2026 three-star review describes a third roof leak on a 7-year-old roof and a nine-day wait for a visit. A January 2024 one-star review says a warranty claim on a 2 year old roof went unanswered for over a month while water reached the plywood behind the chimney, and a May 2022 Angi review says a skylight paid for in October 2020 was never delivered. A September 2026 review calls a 14k quote for a garage's rubber roof double the first estimate, and reviews from June 2026 and November 2023 describe estimators who turned down a gable vent job or pushed an insurance claim for a full roof.

**Strengths:**
- One-day re-roofs — crews stripped and replaced roofs same day
- Price held — final bill matched the quote on a siding job
- Service department — Dave thanked for repair visits in 2026

**Concerns:**
- Leak follow-up — 2026 review cites nine-day wait on a third leak
- Warranty response — 2024 review says calls went unanswered for weeks
- Crew handoff — 2026 siding job left soffit exposed two days
