In a May 2026 review, a Newburyport customer said they had worked with Caswell since 2020 and recommend it to everyone who asks. A February 2024 reviewer with no hot water said they came right out and found the pricing fair, despite hearing the company was more expensive than others. In an October 2023 review, a customer who first used them for electrical work called them professional and quick at a fair price, and later used them for a leaking water heater with the same results. The complaints are specific. In a February 2023 review, a customer who called about water pressure from the main said the work was done without a quote first and questioned the business practices, not the quality of the work. Two reviewers, in April 2023 and August 2025, complained about how company drivers behaved on the road. The firm also worked on a community project: an April 2024 local news item named it among the contractors building a food pantry expansion. **Strengths:** - Fast no-hot-water call — a February 2024 customer said they came right out - Fair pricing — 2023 and 2024 customers called the price fair - Active HVAC licence — state registry shows 460-SM-B active **Concerns:** - Quote before work — a February 2023 customer got no quote first - Driver conduct — two reviews complained about company drivers on the road **Where sources disagree:** - Entity type differs: BBB, Procore and the state registry name Caswell Mechanical Inc, while the company site and BuildZoom name Caswell Mechanical LLC ## Claims & citations Every claim below is backed by real evidence rows — uncited claims are dropped in code before publication. - Massachusetts HVAC licence 460-SM-B, active on the state registry _(confidence: high)_ - [State License Registry](https://occupationallicensingandpermitting.mass.gov/madol/s/license-search-page) — “MA hvac license 460-SM-B registry-verified active — registry holder of record: Caswell Mechanical Inc” - BuildZoom lists Electrical Business licence #9359 _(confidence: medium)_ - [BuildZoom](https://www.buildzoom.com/contractor/caswell-mechanical-llc) — “Licence listed on BuildZoom: License #9359 Status Active State Massachusetts Type Electrical Business Date Issued 06-05-2026 (BuildZoom Veri…” - Says it provides HVAC, plumbing and electrical work across Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine _(confidence: medium)_ - [Official Website](https://www.caswellmechanical.com) — “Caswell Mechanical, LLC is a Newburyport, MA mechanical services company providing HVAC, plumbing and electrical installation, service, main…” - Incorporated in 2005 with 4 employees; BBB rating A+, not accredited _(confidence: medium)_ - [Better Business Bureau](https://www.bbb.org/us/ma/newburyport/profile/plumbing-and-heating/caswell-mechanical-inc-0021-440020) — “Better Business Bureau grade: A+” - [Better Business Bureau](https://www.bbb.org/us/ma/newburyport/profile/plumbing-and-heating/caswell-mechanical-inc-0021-440020) — “BBB profile for Caswell Mechanical, Inc. at 24 Graf Rd, Newburyport MA: BBB rating A+ but NOT BBB accredited, business started and incorpora…” - A February 2024 customer with no hot water said they came right out and priced the job fairly _(confidence: medium)_ - [Google Reviews](https://www.google.com/maps/reviews/data=!4m8!14m7!1m6!2m5!1sChdDSUhNMG9nS0VJQ0FnSUNkMElxWWpRRRAB!2m1!1s0x0:0x212f7cd4ff864cc3!3m1!1s2@1:CIHM0ogKEICAgICd0IqYjQE%7C%7C?hl=en) — “5★ I didn't have any hot water, and they came right out.
