## The honest read

Four cleaners showed up at a last-minute booking and worked through the whole house: a recent Google customer said they emptied the garbage cans, dusted the ceilings, emptied the vacuums, and cleaned out and refilled a humidifier. That customer added that this was only the regular cleaning service. Clara Cleaning Services is a house cleaning company whose website lists a service area that includes Danbury, Bethel, Brookfield, Bedford, Brewster and Carmel. On Google it holds 4.4 stars from 104 ratings, and the Better Business Bureau grades it A+.

A recent customer whose house needed a deep clean said Clara was easy to work with. A customer who called at very short notice said the company was able to accommodate. A 2025 customer hired the company for a deep oven clean and said the oven looked brand new. A 2024 customer with two large dogs said the hair was cleared every time. In 2024, a customer said that after a miscommunication during the first cleaning, the team came back and took care of everything.

A 2022 customer needed a post-construction cleaning after wood floors were refinished, reached Clara late in the evening, and had two cleaners at the house the next morning. A 2022 customer selling a family home said the crew cleaned the living spaces plus a loft in a detached barn, a detached garage space and the basement. A 2021 customer said a 2,400 sq. ft. townhouse was cleaned before move-in in 2.5 hours.

A 2022 customer who had used the company for years said a cleaner was caught on video taking a daughter's tablet; it was recovered, and that customer stopped using them. A 2021 customer said a move-in cleaning quoted at $200 to $250 was then priced at $400, and Clara agreed to $50 less. That 2021 customer also said a ceiling lamp on the list was not cleaned and the windows were poorly washed. A 2023 reviewer called the service unreliable and two hours late. A 2021 customer said the cleaners asked to start four hours later, then never showed up, and a call and an email went unanswered.

**Strengths:**
- A last-minute booking — a recent customer called late and was fit in
- A post-construction clean — a 2022 customer had wood dust cleared next morning
- Pet hair removal — a 2024 customer said dog hair was cleared every time

**Concerns:**
- A tablet theft — a 2022 customer said a cleaner was caught taking a tablet
- A rising quote — a 2021 customer was quoted $200 to $250, then $400
- A missed appointment — a 2021 customer said no one showed up
