## The honest read

In under three hours, Carlos cut the carpet and completed the installation of a custom stair runner, then cleaned up every little tuft of rug before leaving, one recent customer said. That customer had Jack, the owner, order the rug, made him wait for weeks before installation, and said each call got the same answer: "No problem. Whenever you're ready." They wrote that they had shopped around and "Jack's price was fabulous."

Classic Carpet & Rug says it has been in business 44 years and names Stamford, Darien, New Canaan and Greenwich as its service area. Its website covers carpet, hardwood, laminate, luxury vinyl, waterproof flooring, cork and area rugs.

A customer who needed to replace a damaged hardwood floor said Classic supplied new vinyl plank flooring quickly and did the installation. A customer said Dan helped choose both the carpet and the padding, and that the installation crew checked in throughout the installation. A customer shopping for new stair runners said the shop came to the home to measure and give a quote before installing them. A customer who needed a quick turnaround on a carpet installation said they made it happen.

A 2025 customer shopping for luxury vinyl said the store helped with the selection and made sure the installation was perfect. A 2025 customer who bought rugs said they ran into problems with the installation process and that the store resolved them right away. A 2024 customer who needed a carpet stretched and refit at the last minute said Patrick referred them to Elby; they stretched the carpet, made repairs, nailed down loose carpet anchors and pointed out mistakes made by the previous installer. A 2024 customer said Ester gave options on quality and price for wall-to-wall carpeting in their bedrooms, hallway and stairs.

A 2023 customer said a custom-made rug was finished in less than a week at a price they called very reasonable. A 2022 customer said Patrick spent time helping them find samples for a stair runner within their budget.

**Strengths:**
- A stair runner install — carpet cut and installed in under three hours
- In-home measuring — shop measured and quoted new stair runners at home
- Vinyl plank replacement — damaged hardwood swapped for vinyl plank and installed
- A custom rug — a 2023 customer said it took less than a week
