## The honest read

German is named in 11 of the 13 written reviews of Classic Construction Group, a Westport design/build general contractor, and the projects customers describe are big ones. In a September 2024 Google review, a customer says German gutted their downstairs and added an entire second floor, a year-long project, and that the crew was incredibly neat. A July 2025 reviewer who did a kitchen renovation says the crew rolled with delays from other vendors, found solutions for hidden obstacles and did no "nickel & diming" on minor changes. Houzz shows 5.0 stars from 20 ratings and Google 4.4 from 7.

The older Houzz reviews add detail. In 2019, a customer says German's team updated a newly bought house in one month — fresh paint in "basically every room", floors sanded and stained, new vanities, mirrors and toilets, a recessed TV set into the stone chimney and a library refinished in light gray lacquer — and that he corrected any error at no additional cost. Another 2019 customer describes a foyer redone in marble tile in a little over a week, with plastic sheets shielding the other rooms. A January 2017 reviewer says German provided a quote by detailed line item, managed the permit process with the town, and the crew left the site as clean as possible each day.

Time and budget come up in two older accounts. A September 2016 reviewer whose project included a kitchen remodel and relocated stairs says it took longer than expected and ended up over budget, though "it was done right." A May 2018 customer renovating in Larchmont, NY, says the job ran a little longer than preferred because of permits and suppliers, with overages they tie to their own finish selection and a missing beam.

The company places its work in Fairfield County, CT and Westchester County, NY, and offers free estimates.

Its Connecticut home improvement contractor registration, HIC.0625204, held under the name Classic Painting Contracting LLC, is listed as expired.

Its Better Business Bureau grade is A+.

**Strengths:**
- Large renovations — a 2024 customer describes a full second-floor addition
- Line-item quotes — a 2017 reviewer says German itemized the bid
- Permits handled — a 2017 reviewer says he managed the town process

**Concerns:**
- Time and budget — a 2016 reviewer says the job ran long and over
