Last 6 months: 0 reviews, 0 negative. ## The honest read Cliff Cummings Water Services is a Rutland, MA water treatment and well-service company that tests household and private-well water and installs, replaces and maintains filtration, softening, neutralizing and well pump/tank systems. Its website says it has served central Massachusetts for over 25 years; its HomeAdvisor listing separately claims 36 years — the two self-reported figures don't agree. Across 29 reviews on Google and HomeAdvisor dating back to 2019, ratings run high: 4.6★ on Google and 4.9★ on HomeAdvisor, with 93% of HomeAdvisor ratings at five stars. Reviewers keep naming Dave personally — in a 2021 review he diagnosed a failing well system on the spot and had a full replacement installed the next day at what the customer called a reasonable price, and in a 2023 review Dave and Darren explained the project up front and finished on schedule. A February 2026 review said a technician left the home cleaner than he found it. One thing worth asking about directly: a 2024 Google review said that after the longtime owner retired, the new ownership sent someone who was not an electrician to a job the reviewer had specifically flagged as needing one, and charged a $200 service call before the reviewer had an outside electrician make the actual repair. Separately, the company's HomeAdvisor profile states it offers no emergency service and no warranties. A solid call for a water-system install or well troubleshooting — just confirm who's running the job day to day now and get warranty and emergency-service terms in writing before booking. **Strengths:** - Fast diagnosis — Dave traced and fixed a failing well system in a day - Clear communication — reviewers say Dave and Darren explain the job upfront - Clean finish — techs repeatedly praised for leaving the work area tidy **Concerns:** - Ownership change — 2024 review described a non-electrician sent for electrical work - No warranty — HomeAdvisor profile states none offered, and no emergency service **Where sources disagree:** - Its website claims over 25 years in business; its HomeAdvisor profile claims 36 years — the two self-reported figures disagree. ## Claims & citations Every claim below is backed by real evidence rows — uncited claims are dropped in code before publication. - Google shows 4.6★ from 21 ratings and HomeAdvisor shows 4.9★ from 27 ratings, with 93% of HomeAdvisor ratings at 5 stars. _(confidence: high)_ - [Google](https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1&query=Cliff%20Cummings%20Water%20Services&query_place_id=ChIJIZ-gE8T_44kRz4GTpMAWx5A) — “Google: 4.6★ from 21 ratings” - [HomeAdvisor](https://www.homeadvisor.com/rated.CliffCummingsWater.91230184.html) — “HomeAdvisor: 4.9★ from 27 ratings” - [HomeAdvisor](https://www.homeadvisor.com/rated.CliffCummingsWater.91230184.html) — “HomeAdvisor star distribution: 93% 5★ · 7% 4★ (of 27 ratings)” - In a 2021 review, Dave diagnosed a failing well system and had a full replacement installed the next day at a price the customer called reasonable. _(confidence: medium)_ - [HomeAdvisor](https://www.homeadvisor.com/rated.CliffCummingsWater.91230184.html) — “5★ I had major issues with my well.
