## The honest read

Cloudland Paintworks calls itself a residential painting company and says it has been in business for 22 years. Its website lists a service area that includes Bethany, Branford, Guilford, Hamden, Madison, Milford, Orange, Wallingford and Woodbridge. On Google it holds 4.9 stars from 60 ratings, and the Better Business Bureau rates it A+ and lists it as accredited.

A recent customer said Ray answered the call and came to the house for an estimate the same day, then cleaned up afterward without a trace. A 2026 customer said the owner, Ray, arrived on time, gave a fair price after talking through the job, and that his workers showed up when scheduled. Ray Sola, the owner, worked on a recent customer's exterior and deck, and that customer said the job was done quickly. Jesus and Carlos painted the concrete walls and floors inside a recent customer's old house. Power washing is on offer too: a recent customer had the house power washed and called the price reasonable.

A 2025 customer said Ray opened up a ceiling after a plumbing leak without getting dust in the room, then closed and painted the hole. In 2025, a customer wrote that Cloudland repaired and repainted badly chipped baseboard molding throughout the home, covering the floors and preparing the surfaces before painting. A 2025 customer who needed interior painting on short notice said Ray found a way to fit the job in. A 2025 reviewer described Ray as knowledgeable about removing lead paint and using VOC-free paints, and praised his wallpaper hanging.

A 2024 customer had Cloudland paper a dining room accent wall, a half bath and a mud room. In 2024, a customer wrote that Raul and his team power washed, scraped and painted the entire house. A 2024 reviewer said they had worked with Ray Sola on their 1914-built house more than a dozen times since 1995, before the company was named Cloudland, on repairs to fallen ceilings and broken porches, window replacements and painting old wooden siding and shingles.

A 2024 customer called the work high quality but said "you pay for what you get," adding that the crew was courteous, clean and quick.

Connecticut lists its home improvement contractor registration, HIC.0603151, as active, held by Cloudland Paintworks Inc.

**Strengths:**

- Short-notice scheduling — a 2025 customer said Ray fit in an interior job
- Wallpaper hanging — a 2024 customer had an accent wall, half bath, mud room papered

**Concerns:**
