## The honest read

Connecticut Overhead Door holds 5 stars from 630 Google ratings and an A+ grade from the Better Business Bureau. A recent customer named Geoff as the owner, and a 2022 customer called the company "Connecticut Overhead Doors of Durham." The company says it has been in business 40 years, and its website lists a service area that includes Durham, Guilford, Branford, Glastonbury, Haddam and Killingworth.

A recent customer said Geoff arrived precisely when he said he would for a door whose side was sticking to the vinyl strip and jolting, explained the problem, and replaced a light bulb at no extra cost. With Labor Day approaching and family coming, a recent customer's old opener broke, and Geoff stopped what he was doing to come out. A recent customer said he came out the day after the call, fixed the problem while they were at work, did a general service on the door, billed exactly what he had quoted, and swept the garage. A recent customer said he fixed an old opener when they were prepared to get a new one.

When both garage motors went, a recent customer said a local Mr Fix It recommended Geoff; it cost a little more, though not as much as they feared, and both garages now work better and quieter than before. A recent customer said Geoff overhauled their system, explained the new opener, and set up their car and the app. A customer whose doors had never been serviced in 14 years said he put on new sensors, tightened and oiled both doors, and showed them how to oil them.

A 2025 customer who had used another company at a new house said all three bays had issues and two doors were inoperable; Geoff came the next day, fixed all the issues and cleaned up the other company's work. A 2025 customer said Geoff called back on a Sunday, then removed an old broken Clopay EZ spring system and installed heavy duty springs and pulleys.

In a 2024 review, a customer said Geoff Martin, the owner, arrived in late afternoon and got a 40-year-old double wooden garage door working again with a used spare part, no longer available new, that he had in his truck, though he and his family were leaving the next morning on vacation. A 2024 customer signing as Mark in Guilford said there was no hard sale on extras, and opted for a new rubber piece on the bottom of one door and a replacement strip piece with a hole that had let mice in. A 2024 customer said Geoff had them check every possible reason an opener quit before he would come out for a paid call, and a new opener was then installed.

A 2022 customer said that after another company could not locate a part for a broken opener, Geoff located and installed it, repaired faulty weatherstripping, tightened a loose wall mount, lubed the system and synched the car's Bluetooth openers.

Connecticut lists its home improvement contractor registration, HIC.0545149, as expired, held by Connecticut Overhead Door.

**Strengths:**
- Opener installs — a recent customer said Geoff installed one and serviced the door
- A quote that held — a recent customer said the invoice matched the quote
- A next-day visit — a recent customer said Geoff came the day after the call
- No upselling — a recent customer said prices were reasonable for the work
- A swept garage — a recent customer said Geoff swept up after the job
