On Google it holds 5 stars from 204 ratings, and its BBB grade is A+. One customer, who names Ben Cox as the owner, has used him at two homes. After winter wind and snow knocked part of a wooden fence at a Connecticut shore house onto a neighbor's property, Ben had the damaged fence removed, and in the spring he replaced it with a white vinyl fence. At the same customer's West Hartford home he put up a shared fence between two neighbors. The jobs vary. One homeowner got a cedar privacy fence plus a gate with an arbor. A Glastonbury customer wanted the fence to look good at the front and sides but stay hard to see along the backyard, to keep a woods view. A customer whose wooden fence Ben put up about 15 years ago had him repair it after a tree fell on it, and says it has held up. A customer whose fence went in two years earlier had a broken gate replaced quickly at a fair price. A 2025 customer said Ben took care of the permit and ordered a "clear to dig" from the town because gas lines ran close to one gate, and that the fence went in over 2 days on a 0.5 acre yard. A 2025 reviewer wrote that on a backyard sloping on one side, Ben used taller vinyl fence on one end and standard height for the rest. A 2022 customer said the company installed a vinyl pool-compliant fence around changes in elevation, setback restrictions and existing hardscape, with Ben on site overseeing the installation. A 2023 customer said Ben met for a free estimate, but the promised email estimate never arrived and a follow-up message was not returned. Connecticut lists its home improvement contractor registration, HIC.0657662, as active, held by Cox Fence LLC. **Strengths:** - Gate replacement — a recent customer had a broken gate replaced quickly - Permit handling — a 2025 customer said Ben took care of the permit - Sloped yard fix — a 2025 reviewer described taller vinyl on one end - Storm cleanup — a recent customer had a fallen wooden fence removed **Concerns:** - A missed estimate — a 2023 customer never received the promised email estimate ## Claims & citations Every claim below is backed by real evidence rows — uncited claims are dropped in code before publication. - 5 stars on Google from 204 ratings _(confidence: high)_ - [Google](https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1&query=Cox%20Fence&query_place_id=ChIJ50rBrDCt54kRocZ6UTreUKk) — “Google: 5★ from 204 ratings” - BBB grade of A+ _(confidence: high)_ - [Better Business Bureau](https://www.bbb.org/us/ct/newington/profile/fence-contractors/cox-fence-llc-0111-110079221) — “Better Business Bureau grade: A+” - Stated service area includes West Hartford, Farmington, Glastonbury, Simsbury, Newington, Windsor and nearby towns _(confidence: high)_ - [Official Website](https://coxfence.com) — “Stated service area (self-reported): West Hartford, Farmington, Glastonbury, Simsbury, Newington, Windsor, Avon, Wethersfield, South Windsor…” - Removed a storm-toppled wooden fence and replaced it with white vinyl at a customer's shore home _(confidence: high)_ - [Google Reviews](https://www.google.com/maps/reviews/data=!4m8!14m7!1m6!2m5!1sCi9DQUlRQUNvZENodHljRjlvT2xsS2EzZFpSMlZSWVhOTFl6UmtTRFUxV2tSdU0xRRAB!2m1!1s0x0:0xa950de3a517ac6a1!3m1!1s2@1:CAIQACodChtycF9oOllKa3dZR2VRYXNLYzRkSDU1WkRuM1E%7C%7C?hl=en-US) — “5★ I highly recommend Cox Fence Company and especially Ben Cox, the owner.
