## The honest read

A light fixture, a ceiling fan, new fire alarms: Dc Home Improvements Llc is run by Dan Cassella, who describes himself on Thumbtack as the owner and says he has been in the field since 2013, with experience in new construction and renovations of residential homes. The company's website names Hartford, Waterbury, Stamford and Fairfield as its service area.

A recent customer said Dan replaced a light fixture and switch at their property and completed the work efficiently. A recent customer said Dan installed a ceiling fan and outdoor lights on their patio and was reasonably priced. A recent customer contacted Dan on a Saturday, and he came the next day to install new fire alarms.

A recent customer said an assembly project was completed "in record time" and their home was treated with care; that customer also received an estimate on electrical installation. A recent customer said Dan has done many jobs at their home and described honest pricing and communication.

A recent customer wrote that the rate was 70 an hour, and with only 80 on hand and no change, the job ended up costing eighty instead of seventy.

**Strengths:**
- Next-day fire alarms — a recent customer called Saturday, he came the next day
- A patio lighting job — a recent customer said the price was reasonable
- Fixture and switch swap — a recent customer said the work was efficient

**Concerns:**
- Hourly rate and change — a recent customer paid eighty instead of seventy

**Where sources disagree:**
- The company's website says it has 25 years in business, while the owner's Thumbtack profile says he has been in the field since 2013.
