On Houzz the company says it was started by David H. Adams and has worked in Fairfield, Westchester, Litchfield and Putnam Counties since 1986. A 2025 customer wrote that the company added an extension with a bedroom, laundry room and full bath, turned a sun porch into a 3 season room, and put on all new siding. A 2025 reviewer said David's team remodeled a kitchen and three bathrooms, resurfaced a deck and installed a whole house generator while that customer lived in another location, and that the team sent photos sometimes every day. A 2025 customer described a barn design project with Dave. In a 2015 review, a homeowner said the company did two additions in 2000 and a kitchen remodel in 2013. A 2023 customer gave one star after a major kitchen renovation. That customer wrote that Adams rarely showed up to supervise his workmen, that workers damaged stonework during the demo, and that he threatened to walk off the job unless the next installment was paid. The same customer said the kitchen cabinet bottoms were left with exposed wiring and gaping holes. In a 2017 Houzz review, a customer said a master bathroom remodel was completed on time and on budget, though the price was a little high. Connecticut lists its home improvement contractor registration, HIC.0570154, as active, held by Design Builders & Remodeling Inc. **Strengths:** - A home extension — a 2025 customer described a new bedroom, laundry room and bath - Daily progress photos — a 2025 remote client said photos came sometimes every day - A bathroom remodel — a 2017 Houzz customer said it finished on time **Concerns:** - A kitchen renovation — a 2023 customer said supervision was rare and stonework damaged - Payment pressure — a 2023 customer said Adams threatened to walk off the job ## Claims & citations Every claim below is backed by real evidence rows — uncited claims are dropped in code before publication. - Describes itself as specializing in additions, renovations, new home construction, and bathroom and kitchen remodeling _(confidence: high)_ - [Official Website](http://www.dbarinc.com) — “About (self-reported, verbatim): Design Builders and Remodeling specializes in additions, renovations, new home construction, and bathroom a…” - Says on Houzz it was started by David H.
