## The honest read

Three stone retaining walls, eight granite steps, a paver walkway, a boulder wall, landscape lighting and a new front lawn — that was one Andover property, described by the homeowner who hired DiCicco Landscape & Irrigation for it in a 2022 review. Whole-yard design-build is what this Middleton company is set up for: patios, walls, plantings, lighting and irrigation, across a service area it lists as Andover, North Andover, North Reading, Reading, Lynnfield and Middleton.

Stephen DiCicco founded the business in 1997 after working in golf-course construction, and the company's site says he holds an Associate degree in Turfgrass Management from UMass Amherst. Its Better Business Bureau file, opened at the end of 2000, carries an A+ grade and describes an LLC with four employees. A 2024 customer who hired the crew to plan and build a patio praised the attention to detail and the quality of the materials and workmanship.

The two most recent reviews pull the other way. In May 2026 a customer wrote that they were stood up twice for an estimate — no call and no show the second time, after rescheduling earlier that week. In September 2025 a driver described following one of the company's dumpster trucks on I-93 while garbage and styrofoam blew onto the road, and said the driver answered an attempt to flag him down with an obscene gesture.

For a full hardscape or irrigation build north of Boston — walls, steps, patio, lighting — this is the kind of project DiCicco's customers describe in the most detail. Nail down the estimate appointment in writing before you count on it, and ask who will be running the crew on your site.

**Strengths:**
- Whole-yard hardscape builds — walls, steps, walkways and lighting in one project
- Patio craftsmanship — a 2024 client praised materials and workmanship
- Long-running local shop — founded 1997, working towns north of Boston
- A+ BBB grade — on a file open since the end of 2000

**Concerns:**
- Missed estimate appointments — a May 2026 reviewer was stood up twice
- Driver conduct — 2025 reviewer described debris blowing from a company truck
