## The honest read

Ceilings that look like nothing happened to them: a recent customer describes a multi-room job of walls, ceiling and stairwell, and says the ceiling was a blend where you can't tell where Donnie started or stopped. Donnies Drywall and Home Improvement describes itself on its website as a locally operated, family-owned business operating out of East Haven, Connecticut, with 15 years of experience. It has 4.7 stars from 67 Google ratings.

A recent customer describes drywall repair of water damage to a first-floor ceiling caused by a second-floor hot water heater that overflowed. A recent customer says Donnie did several ceilings in their house and was fast, polite and quiet. A 2025 reviewer said Donnie repaired a hole in a dining room ceiling caused by water damage, re-popcorned the area and painted the entire ceiling. A 2024 customer said Donnie and his partner made quick work of a collapsed ceiling and returned all furniture and photos to their places.

The work goes past drywall. A 2025 customer said Donnie replaced 15 doors, touched up the paint in an entryway and installed a kitchen backsplash. A 2024 reviewer described a bathroom remodel Donnie completed, and said he communicated clearly and stayed on schedule and within budget. A 2023 customer said Don installed windows, a sliding glass door, crown molding and a vinyl fence, and did Sheetrock and painted rooms and ceilings.

Showing up has been a problem for some. A 2026 customer said they made an appointment and the company never showed up. A 2025 reviewer said he quoted promptly, then did not reply to email and text, and confirmed a date by phone but never showed. A 2025 customer said Donnie flaked on part of a project and the job never got finished, and that a contractor hired afterward found areas of ceiling inadequately primed by Donnie. A 2024 customer said some bathroom boards were not nailed in, one door did not close and he never came back to fix it, and saw blade marks were left in the floor boards in front of the fridge.

**Strengths:**
- A seamless ceiling blend — a recent customer can't tell where Donnie started or stopped
- Water-damage ceiling repair — a recent customer describes a fix after a heater overflow
- A tidy work area — a 2025 customer said he kept the house tidy

**Concerns:**
