Last 6 months: 6 reviews, 0 negative. ## The honest read Painting a 180-year-old house is mostly a carpentry job, and that is what the customer who hired E&B for theirs in May 2026 described: the wood rot and damaged areas repaired properly first, then the paint. In August 2024 a homeowner with an 80s contemporary rotting away in the woods watched the crew scrape, sand, caulk, fill and prime the sound wood, and replace the siding and trim that was past saving. E&B General Painting & Carpentry works out of Lynn under Rufino, who the company says has been at this 18 years. Interior and exterior painting is the centre of it, with carpentry, gutter installation and repair, and kitchen remodeling alongside, for houses and commercial buildings. Ninety-one Google ratings average five stars, and the accounts behind them keep returning to the prep, the cleanup and the hours. A customer writing in June 2021 whose house dated to 1905 said the crew worked twelve-plus-hour days scraping, stripping and sanding it. In November 2024 another said they showed up early, stayed late, worked a Saturday, and cleaned the site before packing up each evening. An August 2025 customer with cedar shingles described a gentle power wash and careful prep before the semi-transparent stain went on. The carpentry is not a sideline. In April 2026 the crew stripped three different kinds of gutter off a multi-story house — aluminum, copper and wood — and replaced them with new aluminum. Customers describe decks built in 2024, a porch with extra storage worked in underneath at the last minute, a pergola repaired without harming the wisteria growing on it, a mahogany deck and a battered front door brought back in May 2025, rotted window sills replaced with new PVC casing, and a bedroom closet built in May 2026. People come back and send family. A customer writing in May 2024 was hiring them for the third time, on a hundred-year-old Andover house with its original trim. Another in November 2024 called because E&B had painted their parents' house first. If your exterior needs the wood sorted out before the paint goes on — rot, shingles, trim, gutters — this is that crew, and reviewers say the yard gets cleared every evening. Ask for the carpentry to be itemised in the quote before they start: on these older houses several customers describe repairs turning up once the scraping begins, discussed as the job goes. **Strengths:** - Prep before paint — scraping, sanding, caulking and priming described again and again - Wood rot repair — rotted siding, sills and trim replaced before painting - Daily cleanup — reviewers say the site is cleared every evening - Long days — a 2021 customer counted twelve-plus-hour shifts on site - Repeat hires — one customer was booking them a third time in 2024 **Concerns:** - Rot found mid-job — 2024 customers describe repairs added as scraping uncovered them - One platform — every written account here is a Google review **Where sources disagree:** - The company's site gives Lynn as its stated service area, while customers describe jobs in Marblehead and Andover. ## Claims & citations Every claim below is backed by real evidence rows — uncited claims are dropped in code before publication. - A May 2026 customer with a 180-year-old home said the crew repaired all the wood rot and damaged areas before any paint went on _(confidence: high)_ - [Google Reviews](https://www.google.com/maps/reviews/data=!4m8!14m7!1m6!2m5!1sCi9DQUlRQUNvZENodHljRjlvT20xMU1tcHRWRnBKWVRKbGJVOWplblJoYkVsb1VrRRAB!2m1!1s0x0:0x7a57401f6ace3267!3m1!1s2@1:CAIQACodChtycF9oOm11MmptVFpJYTJlbU9jenRhbEloUkE%7C%7C?hl=en) — “5★ We recently hired E&B Painting for the exterior of our 180-year-old home and could not be happier with the results.
