## The honest read

A recent Google customer whose roof was partly shaded said Earthlight explained everything and designed a system that would work for what they had, rather than overselling. The Ellington solar installer says it was founded in 2008 by the Schneider family and that family members remain in active leadership, and its website lists a service area that includes Hartford, Glastonbury, Springfield and Northampton. Its Google rating is 5 stars across 567 ratings, and it is BBB accredited with an A+ grade.

A recent customer said the engineer recommended moving panels and adding structural supports to the attic because trees shadowed the roof; the install took two days, and a programming error found at the final walkthrough was corrected on the spot. A recent customer said Earthlight expanded a solar project it had originally installed in 2022, taking care of town permitting, National Grid interconnection and blending the new unit with the existing panels and storage. A recent customer said Dan spent 25 minutes standing in the pouring rain to turn on and finalize the installation, then helped set up the app for tracking production. A recent customer said the process from signing the contract to having the system running took about two months, and that Earthlight was not the cheapest quote they received.

In 2023, a customer wrote that Earthlight took on a hillside ground-mount project after four other companies declined to quote, and that they returned to rake out the tire tracks. A 2025 customer said the town inspections found zero problems with Earthlight's installation. A 2025 customer said the day-one electrician noticed the main power cable was not secured to the side of the house and made sure it was strapped down before he left. A recent customer said a project they were told would be running in May 2026 was not completed until August 2026, and that they then received an electric bill they had been told not to expect; in an update, that customer said one of the owners, Jake Schneider, took care of the electric bill.
