## The honest read

Storm cleanup and tree removal are what East Lyme Tree Services gets hired for. A recent customer had damaged trees and debris removed after a storm and called the price reasonable. A recent customer had some trees trimmed and one removed, and said the cutting and the cleanup afterward were done well. The company's website lists a service area that includes East Lyme, Groton, Guilford, Branford, East Haven and Hamden, and on Google it holds 5 stars from 17 ratings.

In a 2025 review, a customer said John and his crew cleared damaged and felled trees after a storm. A 2025 customer said the owner climbed an angled tree that was wobbling and hanging over the power lines, and that the tree ended up as firewood. In a 2023 review, a customer said John quoted removing two trees and trimming three others for less than an earlier quote, then removed several dead limbs at no extra charge on the workday. That 2023 customer also described some confusion and a postponed target date, and said John apologized several times.

In a 2022 review, a customer said the owner gave a detailed estimate, arrived with his crew on time, and put out traffic cones and signs on the street while the work went on.

**Strengths:**
- Storm cleanup — a recent customer had damaged trees and debris removed
- Free dead-limb removal — a 2023 customer said extra limbs came off free
- A detailed estimate — a 2022 customer said the owner came out to give one

**Concerns:**
- A postponed start — a 2023 customer described confusion over the target date
