## The honest read

Eastern Tree Experts LLC says it has done tree work in Guilford and the neighboring Shoreline towns since 1978, and calls itself locally owned and family-operated. On Google it holds 5 stars from 37 ratings.

A recent customer said Mike came on a Friday to give an estimate and was there on Monday with his crew, who took down one tree, trimmed several others and cleaned up all fallen limbs. A customer who has used Mike and his team for years for tree removal, pruning and fertilization says he sends photos documenting the completed work.

A 2025 customer said Mike matched a slightly lower bid on the removal of a dead tree near power lines, because the customer wanted to keep the work with a Guilford business. A 2025 reviewer with property in Rhode Island said the company removed two trees that fell during a nor'easter, with a rep on site within an hour to give an estimate and the work done two days later. A 2025 reviewer hired the company to assess the remnants of a fallen tree and give an opinion on its pre-fall condition for an insurance matter.

A 2022 customer said a 45-foot maple damaged in a tropical storm was threatening to fall onto their roof; Mike returned the call within 12 hours, came out to survey it and had his crew there within an hour. That 2022 customer also said the crew protected the lawn and driveway, raked the lawn and cleaned the driveway when the job was done. A 2022 reviewer said the company first did tree work for them in 2014 and was hired again in 2017, 2019 and 2020 for pruning, tree and large-shrub removal, stump grinding and advice on tree health. A 2022 customer said Mike pruned and cabled a large front tree. A 2024 reviewer who lives in the woods said they had used the company for all of their tree work for the last 18 years.

On its BBB page, the company lists its tree services as diagnosis, fertilizing, pruning and removal.

**Strengths:**
- Quick scheduling — a recent customer had a Friday estimate and Monday visit
- Photo documentation — a recent customer says Mike sends photos of completed work
- A matched bid — a 2025 customer said Mike matched a slightly lower bid
- Storm response — a 2022 customer said Mike called back within 12 hours
- Repeat hiring — a 2022 reviewer hired them again in 2017, 2019 and 2020
