The company says it has been in business 40 years and offers free estimates, holds an A+ grade from the Better Business Bureau, where it is accredited, and BuildZoom shows 87 projects for it. On the BBB, it describes residential and commercial electrical installation and service, including wiring, maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting and emergency backup systems; generators make up a long run of its listed BBB services. Generator work is also what an October 2025 Google reviewer wrote about: a technician named Ron was polite, personable and went right to work making sure the generator was fine, and the customer says they are satisfied with the service they get from ESM. A September 2026 Google reviewer praises the ease of the process and helpful, friendly employees. One complaint comes from the BBB: a reviewer writes that on a February 2024 site visit for a generator installation, the company's representative took no measurements and suggested placing the generator near the garage without considering federal guidelines for its placement. Two local newspapers, the Sun Journal and the Wiscasset Newspaper, have each credited the company with work in an article. **Strengths:** - Generator service — October 2025 reviewer says Ron went right to work - Friendly staff — September 2026 reviewer praises an easy process **Concerns:** - Generator site visit — BBB reviewer says no measurements were taken in 2024 ## Claims & citations Every claim below is backed by real evidence rows — uncited claims are dropped in code before publication. - 4.9 stars from 664 Google ratings _(confidence: high)_ - [Google](https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1&query=Electrical%20Systems%20Of%20Maine&query_place_id=ChIJFxEG7-ppskwRQQPUqZASX68) — “Google: 4.9★ from 664 ratings” - A+ grade from the Better Business Bureau, where the company is accredited _(confidence: high)_ - [Better Business Bureau](https://www.bbb.org/us/me/auburn/profile/electrician/electrical-systems-of-maine-inc-0021-96770) — “Better Business Bureau grade: A+” - [Better Business Bureau](https://www.bbb.org/us/me/auburn/profile/electrician/electrical-systems-of-maine-inc-0021-96770) — “Better Business Bureau: accredited / certified / member” - The company says it has been in business 40 years and offers free estimates _(confidence: medium)_ - [Official Website](http://www.electricalsystemsofmaine.com) — “Stated offer (self-reported): free estimates” - [Official Website](http://www.electricalsystemsofmaine.com) — “Self-reported 40 years in business” - 87 projects shown on BuildZoom _(confidence: medium)_ - [BuildZoom](https://www.buildzoom.com/contractor/esm-electrical-systems-of-maine) — “87 project(s) shown on BuildZoom” - An October 2025 Google reviewer says generator technician Ron was polite and went right to work checking the generator _(confidence: medium)_ - [Google Reviews](https://www.google.com/maps/reviews/data=!4m8!14m7!1m6!2m5!1sCi9DQUlRQUNvZENodHljRjlvT2tkak1sbEtMVlZuVm5OeFJYRk1MVmhrVUcxTWRrRRAB!2m1!1s0x0:0xaf5f1290a9d40341!3m1!1s2@1:CAIQACodChtycF9oOkdjMllKLVVnVnNxRXFMLVhkUG1MdkE%7C%7C?hl=en) — “5★ Generator service Ron , was polite, personable, and went right to work, making sure all was fine with my generator, I’m always satisfied …” - A September 2026 Google reviewer praises the ease of the process and helpful, friendly employees _(confidence: medium)_ - [Google Reviews](https://www.google.com/maps/reviews/data=!4m8!14m7!1m6!2m5!1sCi9DQUlRQUNvZENodHljRjlvT2t0WWRsbHFhekJtYjJWeU4wTmFiVWc1TmxWWk1sRRAB!2m1!1s0x0:0xaf5f1290a9d40341!3m1!1s2@1:CAIQACodChtycF9oOktYdllqazBmb2VyN0NabUg5NlVZMlE%7C%7C?hl=en) — “5★ The kind of customer service that makes you a loyal customer.
