## The honest read

EMER & SON PAINTING is a Stratford painting company that, on its Houzz profile, calls itself a Stratford, CT based family owned and operated business. On Houzz it holds 4.8 stars from 23 ratings.

A recent customer said the company repainted the shutters on the outside of the house, plus the front door and two garage doors, and called the price better than fair. A 2024 customer said Emer gave a detailed estimate listing power washing, replacing rotted wood, sanding, caulking corners and primers followed by two finish coats, and used rollers and brushes instead of spraying.

A 2023 customer had wanted siding but found it over budget, and said the way the exterior was sanded made it look like siding had been installed. A 2020 customer hired the company to sand and stain a 900 sq ft deck and said Emerson's guys went back with sanders between each board so no gray paint would show under the transparent stain.

The work goes past exterior paint. A 2019 customer, a real estate investor, said the company painted the exterior and part of the interior of a Victorian style church house with a lot of trim work, showed up on time and finished on time. A 2019 customer said the project was replacing a large section of drywall that fell from a garage ceiling after a water leak, and that Emerson arrived exactly when he said he would.

A 2019 customer was unhappy: that customer wrote that paint on an exterior job done two years earlier was peeling and cracking, that the crew broke asphalt roof shingles, and that power-washing damaged the breaker in the A/C disconnect box, which a licensed electrician fixed a few days later.

Connecticut lists its home improvement contractor registration, HIC.0654852, as active, held by Emer and Son Painting LLC.
