## The honest read

Fryer Lawn & Landscape is a Hamden lawn company that customers hire for new lawns: top soil, hydroseeding, leveled backyards. Customers name Matt Fryer as the person who quotes and runs the work.

In a May 2024 Google review, a homeowner said Matt built an 85 x 3 ft retaining wall and hydroseeded their entire lot, modifying the work as needed and staying within their budget. A May 2025 customer said Matt came right out to estimate leveling their backyard, then scheduled the fill, top soil and hydroseeding all to be done within a week. In June 2025, another said he scraped the lawn, seeded it with clover and did some edging.

A June 2023 Angi customer said that when heavy rain washed away the original seeding, the team came back and re-seeded those areas. A May 2026 Google reviewer said Matt came right out to give an estimate, started the work on time and answered all their questions.

The company also lists hardscaping such as patios, retaining walls and pavers, plus pressure washing, on its BBB page, and its website offers free estimates and 24/7 emergency service. It works towns including Wallingford, Southington, North Haven and Cheshire.

Google shows 5 stars from 7 ratings; Angi and HomeAdvisor each show 5.0 from 2. The BBB grade is A+.

Connecticut's registry shows its home improvement contractor license, HIC.0668507, as active.

**Strengths:**
- New lawns — 2025 customers describe top soil and hydroseeding that came out well
- Fast scheduling — a 2025 yard leveling was set to finish within a week
- Came back — a 2023 customer had rain-washed seeding redone
