Last 6 months: 3 reviews, 0 negative. ## The honest read A recent Google reviewer whose 100+ year old home needed a rebuilt front entry and roof says John built exactly the design from the reviewer's picture, including an entryway ceiling with built-in lighting. That recent reviewer says John Grant's crew was always there first thing in the morning and left the job site spotless, and that John was up front and reasonable with costs when a large portion of the deck turned out to be rotted. The reviewer then had Grant Building Group rebuild the deck, including power washing and treating existing and new railings and adding gates. A recent reviewer hired the company to replace two leaking skylights and says the problem was fixed within the quote and timeline, with the shingles matched and the inside trim finished. A recent reviewer says John and his team were friendly and efficient. A 2025 reviewer said John and his team were timely, responsive and thorough on a 2024 kitchen remodel and mudroom addition, and that the site was kept clean. A 2025 reviewer said John and crew helped rescue and transform the reviewer's barn and that the estimate of cost was spot on. A 2024 reviewer said Grant Building Group took a house redesign from architectural plans all the way to finish work, using other contractors for drywall, electrical, plumbing and painting. A 2024 reviewer said John Grant and his crew were not the cheapest around but delivered quality craftsmanship with no shortcuts. A 2024 reviewer who had a two-sided see-through fireplace replaced said John Grant started when he said he would and stuck to the schedule he gave. A 2023 reviewer said that, two months into a kitchen remodel with a recommended contractor, the reviewer was given John Grant's name to finish it, and that John offered to finish and fix the cabinets, toe kicks and trim. A 2023 reviewer said GBG built an addition that expanded the home's footprint and included a bathroom. A 2026 reviewer said the job came in $3500 over the original quote and that the Anderson door installed was inferior. That 2026 reviewer said John refused a replacement door, blaming Anderson, and that the glass later fell from the rubber gasket that holds it in place. The same 2026 reviewer said trim replaced around both garage doors lifted and separated, and that a discount promised for paying in cash did not happen. In an edit 1.5 years after the work, that 2026 reviewer said the storm door had to be replaced at the reviewer's own expense. **Strengths:** - Front entry rebuild — a recent reviewer says John built the pictured design - Skylight replacement — a recent reviewer says it stayed within quote and timeline - Whole-house redesign — a 2024 reviewer described plans through finish work - Clean job site — a recent reviewer says the site was left spotless **Concerns:** - Final bill — a 2026 reviewer said it was $3500 over the quote - Anderson door install — a 2026 reviewer said the glass later fell loose - Garage door trim — a 2026 reviewer said the replaced trim lifted and separated ## Claims & citations Every claim below is backed by real evidence rows — uncited claims are dropped in code before publication. - A recent reviewer says John Grant built a rebuilt front entry from the reviewer's picture, including an entryway ceiling with built-in lighting _(confidence: medium)_ - [Google Reviews](https://www.google.com/maps/reviews/data=!4m8!14m7!1m6!2m5!1sCi9DQUlRQUNvZENodHljRjlvT25KV2EyZFVUME0zWWtKb1RqVkVVR1EzZVhCMmIzYxAB!2m1!1s0x0:0xb9e580905a674ea8!3m1!1s2@1:CAIQACodChtycF9oOnJWa2dUT0M3YkJoTjVEUGQ3eXB2b3c%7C%7C?hl=en-US) — “5★ Grant Building Group was a pleasure to work with.
