## The honest read

Guilford Fenceworks is a fence company whose website lists Durham, Guilford, Madison, Branford, New Haven and Middletown among the towns it serves. Its About text speaks of 30 years helping homeowners and commercial property owners, while another line on the same site gives five years in business. Its Better Business Bureau page shows an A+ grade.

A 2025 Google customer said the company had once again done the work, this time adding fencing to enclose a dog's roaming area with a 6' beige vinyl privacy fence and a 4' vinyl picket fence in an L-shape. That 2025 customer wrote that the first vinyl fence, installed several years earlier, had held up to all weather conditions, and that Scott surveyed the area while Rob and his team handled the installation.

A 2025 reviewer had a vinyl and chain link fence installed around the backyard, with the vinyl on the street side for privacy, and said the project included removing a severely damaged wooden fence. That 2025 customer said the property was left cleaner than they found it. A 2025 customer who needed the back part of a fence closed off said Lou and his team did it all in one day.

A 2025 customer said Louis asked detailed questions during the estimate and suggested adding a gate to another side. That 2025 customer wrote that overgrowth was removed and gaps were filled, where other companies had said the customer would have to clear the way. A 2024 customer called on a Thursday about a privacy fence and said the project was completed by the following Monday. A 2023 customer with a relatively small job said Paul gave a fair price and the team arrived on time.

A 2023 customer who hired Paul three years earlier to put up a fence said that, after a tree fell on it several months before, Paul still had not come out to fix it after 11 phone calls.

**Strengths:**
- A one-day job — a 2025 customer said the fence was closed off in one day
- A fast start — a 2024 customer called Thursday, fence was done the following Monday
- A lasting vinyl fence — a 2025 customer said an earlier fence held up to all weather

**Concerns:**
- Repair follow-up — a 2023 customer said Paul did not show after 11 calls

**Where sources disagree:**
- The company's website speaks of 30 years helping property owners in its About text but gives 5 years in business on another line.
