## The honest read

Gustavo Construction LLC describes itself on its website as a Connecticut remodeling contractor that handles complete remodeling, decks, roofing, siding, framing, carpentry, tile, painting and fence installation. Its stated service area runs through Danbury, Bethel, Brookfield, Newtown, New Milford and nearby towns, and the company says it has been in business nine years.

A 2022 customer said Gustavo built stairs outside and in their basement and remodeled their kitchen. A 2024 customer said he built outdoor stairs down a steep entry and reframed a wall for a sliding door, and that they were still marveling at the trim and siding work around the new door. A 2023 customer said Gustavo had been their carpenter for years. A recent Google customer said everything was completed professionally and exactly as expected.

A 2025 customer gave one star, saying that two days before the agreed start date Gustavo tried to subcontract the job and then tried to raise the price, already agreed in writing, by 4 grand.

Connecticut lists its home improvement contractor registration, HIC.0666255, as active, held by Gustavo Construction LLC.

**Strengths:**
- A steep-entry stair build — a 2024 customer described outdoor stairs and a reframed wall
- Longtime carpenter — a 2023 customer said Gustavo had been their carpenter for years
- Work as expected — a recent customer said everything was completed professionally

**Concerns:**
- A price increase attempt — a 2025 customer said he tried to add 4 grand
- A subcontracting attempt — a 2025 customer said he tried to subcontract the job
