Last 6 months: 1 reviews, 0 negative. ## The honest read H&J Roofing's own website describes roofing, siding, gutters and windows work. A recent customer said the price of a new roof was fair and the job finished in two days rather than three, with work running from 8 AM until 7:30 PM. That customer said every bit of roofing residue was cleaned up after the first day and the furniture was put back onto the decks. A 2025 customer said they spoke with 10 different roofers before getting Steve Dumas's name from a friend, and that the final price was very close to the starting figure. That 2025 customer said Alan, a mason, built a crown at the top of the chimney to prevent leaking. A 2024 customer wrote that Jody Alan, his brother and crew took down the old chimney and built a new one. A 2023 customer said the masonry team rebuilt a chimney brick by brick during a roof replacement. A 2022 customer said Steve redid the roof and all the gutters, and a 2021 customer described a complete roof and gutter replacement. A 2024 customer said garden beds were covered and no garbage was left behind. A 2024 customer said they ran a magnet on a neighbor's driveway for stray nails. A 2023 customer said Steve forgot to move and install a new fan, then came back and installed the correct fan in the right place. A 2025 customer said the space around the fireplace vent was not sealed well on a roof replaced in 2021, and that water leakage showed up in 2024. That 2025 customer said calls and emails a couple of times got no reply, and someone else fixed the issue. Connecticut lists its home improvement contractor registration, HIC.0606788, as active, held by H&J Roofing LLC. **Strengths:** - A two-day roof — a recent customer said it finished in two days, not three - Chimney rebuild — a 2024 customer said the old chimney was replaced - Covered garden beds — a 2024 customer said nothing was destroyed - Fan error fixed — a 2023 customer said Steve came back to correct it **Concerns:** - Fireplace vent seal — a 2025 customer reported leakage and no reply to calls ## Claims & citations Every claim below is backed by real evidence rows — uncited claims are dropped in code before publication. - 4.9 stars from 64 Google ratings _(confidence: high)_ - [Google](https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1&query=H%20%26%20J%20Roofing&query_place_id=ChIJK4IHj8dr0i4RaawJdVS1UcA) — “Google: 4.9★ from 64 ratings” - Roof replacement work _(confidence: high)_ - [Google Reviews](https://www.google.com/maps/reviews/data=!4m8!14m7!1m6!2m5!1sCi9DQUlRQUNvZENodHljRjlvT2w4M0xVMWhValJvVWw4M1FqWnJVMGhGWDFBd2QyYxAB!2m1!1s0x0:0xc051b5547509ac69!3m1!1s2@1:CAIQACodChtycF9oOl83LU1hUjRoUl83QjZrU0hFX1Awd2c%7C%7C?hl=en-US) — “5★ I would highly recommend H&J Roofing.
