## The honest read

Half Moon Stone Works builds in stone: its Houzz profile describes patios, walks, stairs and walls, dry-laid or mortared, along with natural and manufactured veneers. The company says it has more than 20 years in the masonry trade and lists Grand Isle, Chittenden and Franklin as its service area. On Houzz it holds a 5.0 rating from 16 ratings.

A 2019 customer said they replied almost immediately on a holiday weekend, then finished a stone step and front path in 3 days, with cleanup and sod laid included. A 2019 reviewer wrote that they had rebuilt the front steps, suggested adding stone facing, and came back to add a stone walk; that customer said the level surfaces and handrail made the house much more accessible.

In a 2018 review, a customer described a stone wall and walkway that had to match the existing building and function as insulation and drain. A 2019 customer said a cobblestone walkway was installed as agreed, with the work done in the hottest weather of the summer even though hand digging was required. A 2020 reviewer said a blue stone patio transformed a small space.

A 2019 customer said the work on a couple of projects was completed at the quoted price. A 2020 customer wrote that Half Moon put together the plans from their ideas and some left over materials, and finished on time and on budget. A 2019 reviewer named Pete and Tom Chappelow and said they followed up after completion to make sure everything was satisfactory.

**Strengths:**
- Stone step and path — a 2019 customer said it was done in 3 days
- The quoted price held — a 2019 customer said work finished at the quoted price
- Work in summer heat — a 2019 customer said they hand dug in the hottest weather
- A fast first reply — a 2019 customer got an answer on a holiday weekend
