It carries an A+ grade with the Better Business Bureau and a 4.8-star average across 72 Google ratings. One recent customer says Hantsch was the electrician for a Generac whole-home generator and several side projects, and that its extra troubleshooting showed the generator problem was a gas supply issue, not electrical. A customer who has worked with the company for 8 years says it installed a home generator and added outlets. One recent customer says the electricians snaked electrical feeds for lanai ceiling fans and motorized shades without damage to the home's finish, after another electrical contractor declined the job. In a 2022 review, a customer said the company upgraded a 50-year-old electrical panel to 200 amps with a generator plug-in, filed the permit with the town and scheduled the inspection. A 2026 customer said Milton did the work when their entire electrical panel was replaced. A recent 3-star customer understood the visit to be $195, then was billed $390 for two hours at $195 per hour to find a problem with the electric heat in an older house. That customer said the repair quote was much higher than a second quote from another local electrician, and advises asking up front whether the rate is flat or hourly. In a 2021 review, a customer gave 2 stars and wrote that calls are not returned. **Strengths:** - Generator troubleshooting — a recent customer's generator problem turned out to be gas supply - A hard wiring job — feeds snaked for ceiling fans without damage to the finish - Permit handling — a 2022 customer said they filed the permit and scheduled inspection **Concerns:** - Hourly visit pricing — a recent customer was billed $390 for two hours - Unreturned calls — a 2021 customer wrote that calls are not returned ## Claims & citations Every claim below is backed by real evidence rows — uncited claims are dropped in code before publication. - Says it has been in business for 45 years _(confidence: medium)_ - [Official Website](https://www.hantschelectric.com) — “Self-reported 45 years in business” - Describes itself as a family-owned company providing residential and commercial electrical services throughout Western CT, based in New Milford _(confidence: medium)_ - [Official Website](https://www.hantschelectric.com) — “About (self-reported, verbatim): Hantsch Electric provides residential and commercial electrical services throughout Western CT.
