# Healey Construction & development LLC **Trade:** General Contractor / Remodeling · **Address:** Saugus, MA · **Phone:** (617) 710-8822 · **Website:** http://healey-builders.com/ · **Languages:** English **Rating: 3.4/5** (low confidence) — from 2 reviews across 6 sources. ## The honest read Healey Construction & Development, LLC is a general contractor based in Saugus, Massachusetts, run by James Healey. A May 2026 review describes a complete bathroom remodel, from planning through stripping the room to the studs and finishing the tile work, adding a laundry area to the upstairs bath along the way; the reviewer called the results outstanding. The company's Massachusetts Home Improvement Contractor licence (#175089), registered to James Healey, shows as expired in the state registry. In a 2013 review, a customer described a change-order dispute that inflated a bill by $10,000, said the matter went to court and resulted in a judgment, and alleged the owner later filed for bankruptcy. Online ratings diverge sharply by platform: Google shows 5 stars from one rating tied to the 2026 bathroom project, while Angi and HomeAdvisor each show 1 star from a single, older, matching review of the 2013 dispute — the two platforms are mirroring the same account rather than adding independent data. Given the expired licence and the age gap between the one positive and one negative account on file, it's worth confirming current licensing and insurance directly with the company before booking, and asking for recent references. **Strengths:** - Bathroom remodel praise — a May 2026 review calls the full renovation outstanding - Detailed craftsmanship — the review describes planning through finish tile work **Concerns:** - Expired licence — the state registry shows the HIC licence (#175089) expired - Past billing dispute — a 2013 review alleged an inflated change-order bill and court judgment **Where sources disagree:** - Google's 5-star average and Angi/HomeAdvisor's 1-star average reflect two different, unrelated reviews from different years, not a shared assessment. - Angi and HomeAdvisor show byte-identical review and business-highlight content for this business. - BuildZoom lists the same licence number under two different status labels on one page and separately states no licence is on file, while the state registry shows that licence as expired. ## Claims & citations Every claim below is backed by real evidence rows — uncited claims are dropped in code before publication. - Holds a Massachusetts Home Improvement Contractor licence, #175089, registered to James Healey _(confidence: high)_ - [State License Registry](https://contractorhub.mass.gov/s/hic-contractor-search) — “MA hic license 175089 registry-verified expired — registry holder of record: James Healey” - The Massachusetts Home Improvement Contractor licence (#175089) shows as expired in the state registry _(confidence: high)_ - [State License Registry](https://contractorhub.mass.gov/s/hic-contractor-search) — “MA hic license 175089 registry-verified expired — registry holder of record: James Healey” - A May 2026 review describes a full bathroom remodel down to the studs, including a new laundry area, calling the results outstanding _(confidence: high)_ - [Google Reviews](https://www.google.com/maps/reviews/data=!4m8!14m7!1m6!2m5!1sCi9DQUlRQUNvZENodHljRjlvT2pkd01VWm9XWFJRVDA1MFMxUjFNemd3VEhwelZYYxAB!2m1!1s0x0:0xbb78db40ed00ed2b!3m1!1s2@1:CAIQACodChtycF9oOjdwMUZoWXRQT050S1R1MzgwTHpzVXc%7C%7C?hl=en) — “5★ Healey Construction & Development remodeled our bathroom ,first by planning then , stripping down to the studs , to the finish tile work…” - In a 2013 review, a customer described a change-order billing dispute that went to court and alleged the owner later filed for bankruptcy _(confidence: high)_ - [HomeAdvisor](https://www.homeadvisor.com/rated.healeyconstructiondevelopmentllc.155739558.html) — “1★ James Healey of Healey Construction and Development is a predator.
