## The honest read

A cracked cast-iron pipe, a failed well pump and a replacement water heater are among the jobs customers describe bringing to Heath & Field Plumbing & Heating. The Newport company says it is family owned, has served the area since 1945, and offers free estimates and 24/7 emergency service. Its stated area includes Newport, Goshen, Claremont, Sunapee and Sullivan. Google shows five stars from 49 ratings, and BBB gives it an A+ grade.

Recent reviews describe repairs to older systems. An August 2026 customer said the crew repaired a six-foot crack in a four-inch cast-iron pipe, finished on time and worked neatly. In September, a customer whose family had used the company for decades described sourcing parts for a 1943 toilet, septic repairs and repair of a worn lakeside water-intake pipe. A June reviewer described several jobs over recent years: removing a commercial mop sink and fitting a small electric water heater, responding to a failed home well pump, and work on a wood-and-propane water-heating and radiant-floor setup.

An April 23, 2026 customer said Greg rearranged appointments for an emergency water-heater replacement and Donny and Reily arrived within an hour, ready to install it. The reviewer described the installation as quick. An October repeat customer praised keeping promised arrival times, explanations and reasonable charges; a September reviewer also praised quick responses and reasonable prices.

Older accounts include a May 2022 review of Gregg diagnosing and repairing a wall-mounted, on-demand boiler by testing its components. A February 2023 reviewer said someone arrived the same afternoon they called about burst pipes and repaired them within an hour, restoring water. In June 2025, a water-tank customer praised a quick replacement in a difficult location but asked for more timely answers to email and text questions.

The New Hampshire registry shows HVAC license GFE0802472 active under Gregg B Merritt. A separate HVAC license entry, 2368 under HEATH & FIELD INC, is expired. The company's website also prints number 2368.

**Strengths:**
- Cast-iron pipe repair — an August 2026 customer praised timely, neat work
- Emergency heater replacement — an April 2026 customer described arrival within an hour
- Older system repairs — a September 2026 reviewer described toilet parts and intake-pipe repairs

**Concerns:**
- Response timing — a June 2025 reviewer requested quicker email and text answers
- Expired licence entry — New Hampshire registry shows licence 2368 expired
