## The honest read

Helping Hands Home Improvement & Landscape is a small Clinton operation run by Evan Thayer — Thumbtack lists two employees and six years in business — that covers both handyman repairs and yard work, the kind of business homeowners call for whatever's on the list that week.

The handyman side gets specific praise: a 2023 review describes Evan patching a hole in a textured ceiling from a leaking pipe so well 'you can't tell it was ever fixed,' and a 2022 review from a condo owner with a string of small jobs calls him responsive, professional, and reasonably priced — 'now I have a handyman I can rely on.' On the landscaping side, a 2025 Thumbtack review describes lawn mowing and mulching done promptly, exactly as requested, for less than expected. A 2020 Reddit recommendation and a 2023 review both describe a team that shows up quickly and cleans up afterward.

One thing to know: a 2024 one-star Google review describes a dispute with Evan over a job — the reviewer alleges he 'messed up everything,' though the review, a reply to Evan's own response, doesn't spell out exactly what happened.

For a mixed list of small repairs and yard work — a patch job, a mowing and mulching visit, a quick fence fix — the record here points to a responsive, personally-run operation, with one contested job worth asking about.

**Strengths:**
- Invisible repairs — patched a textured ceiling seamlessly
- Reliable handyman — responsive across many small condo jobs
- Prompt lawn care — mowing and mulching done as asked
- Fast, tidy crew — arrives quickly and cleans up after

**Concerns:**
- Disputed job — a 2024 one-star review alleges a job went badly
