## The honest read

Sprinkler winterization and lawn overseeding feature in older customer accounts of Hoctor Built Homes. The East Sandwich business is described by CapeNews as a real estate and contracting company founded by Shane T. Hoctor. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active under Hoctor Built Homes and Property Management LLC.

A homeowner writing in October 2018 said the company had overseeded their lawn about a month earlier. After the second mowing, they described a full lawn with the bare and sparse areas gone. Another customer, writing in November 2018, said the company winterized an older irrigation system with issues and praised the cost and results. A different November 2018 reviewer said they were squeezed in for sprinkler winterization after calling at the last minute in the fall, having recently moved to the house.

In a separate November 2018 review, a customer named Sean as the person who arrived at the property within the time frame he had quoted and explained irrigation systems. That customer planned to request a quote for interior work.

An October 2019 customer identified Shane as the owner and praised his prompt arrival and timely work. Another customer that month said a late call received a timely response and that they were kept informed of progress. In May 2021, a homeowner said calls were answered or returned within minutes and that their project was completed as requested within their desired timeline despite limited local materials. They described the workers as punctual, polite and helpful.

A July 2022 customer praised a quick response and a clear explanation of what the worker could do and when, and said he did a good job. A May 2026 reviewer described the company as efficient and friendly and said they would hire it for other needed projects. HomeAdvisor and Angi each show a 4.8-star average from 93 ratings.

- Sprinkler winterization — a November 2018 customer praised cost and results
