--- title: "Home Mechanics - Heating & Cooling, Plumbing & Electrical" description: "A homeowner comparing heat pump quotes in a 2023 r/massachusetts thread said Home Mechanics priced an air source heat pump with the $10,000 MassSave incent" doc_version: "2026-09-21" last_updated: "2026-09-21" --- # Home Mechanics - Heating & Cooling, Plumbing & Electrical **Trade:** HVAC / Heating & Cooling · **Address:** 6 McMahon St, Chelmsford, MA 01863 · **Phone:** (978) 539-7172 · **Website:** https://homemechanics.com · **Languages:** English **Rating: 3.5/5** (low confidence) — from 0 reviews across 1 sources. ## The honest read A homeowner comparing heat pump quotes in a 2023 r/massachusetts thread said Home Mechanics priced an air source heat pump with the $10,000 MassSave incentive taken straight off the quote — the rebate handled at the quote stage rather than left to the customer. The Chelmsford company's name spans heating, cooling, plumbing and electrical. The Better Business Bureau categorises it as an air conditioning contractor, and its grade there is an A. BBB also lists it as a one-employee operation, which is worth knowing if your job needs several trades on site at once or a fast turnaround. If you are pricing an air source heat pump and would rather see the MassSave money come off the quote than chase it afterwards, this is a reasonable call. Confirm the Massachusetts licence for whichever trade your job actually touches, ask for proof of insurance, and get the equipment model and the incentive figure in writing. **Strengths:** - Heat pump quoting — a 2023 quote took $10,000 MassSave off the price - BBB A grade — its Chelmsford profile carries an A ## Claims & citations Every claim below is backed by real evidence rows — uncited claims are dropped in code before publication. - In a 2023 r/massachusetts thread, a homeowner gathering heat pump quotes said Home Mechanics quoted an air source heat pump with the $10,000 MassSave incentive taken off the price _(confidence: medium)_ - [reddit.com](https://www.reddit.com/r/massachusetts/comments/15acf4v/ridiculous_masssave_experience/jtkgnla/) — “r/massachusetts — Dandelion Energy is the ground source installer I decided to go with, and they take the $15,000 MassSave off the price, so…” - Carries an A grade on its Better Business Bureau profile _(confidence: high)_ - [Better Business Bureau](https://www.bbb.org/us/ma/chelmsford/profile/air-conditioning-contractor/home-mechanics-heating-cooling-plumbing-electrical-0021-559985) — “Better Business Bureau grade: A” - [Better Business Bureau](https://www.bbb.org/us/ma/chelmsford/profile/air-conditioning-contractor/home-mechanics-heating-cooling-plumbing-electrical-0021-559985) — “BBB profile for Home Mechanics - Heating & Cooling, Plumbing & Electrical at 6 McMahon St, Chelmsford, MA 01863: not BBB accredited, rated A…” - The Better Business Bureau categorises the Chelmsford business as an air conditioning contractor and lists one employee _(confidence: medium)_ - [Better Business Bureau](https://www.bbb.org/us/ma/chelmsford/profile/air-conditioning-contractor/home-mechanics-heating-cooling-plumbing-electrical-0021-559985) — “Services offered (Better Business Bureau): Air Conditioning Contractors” - [Better Business Bureau](https://www.bbb.org/us/ma/chelmsford/profile/air-conditioning-contractor/home-mechanics-heating-cooling-plumbing-electrical-0021-559985) — “BBB profile for Home Mechanics - Heating & Cooling, Plumbing & Electrical at 6 McMahon St, Chelmsford, MA 01863: not BBB accredited, rated A…” - Specializes in HVAC / Heating & Cooling _(confidence: high)_ - [reddit.com](https://www.reddit.com/r/massachusetts/comments/15acf4v/ridiculous_masssave_experience/jtkgnla/) — “r/massachusetts — Dandelion Energy is the ground source installer I decided to go with, and they take the $15,000 MassSave off the price, so…” - [Better Business Bureau](https://www.bbb.org/us/ma/chelmsford/profile/air-conditioning-contractor/home-mechanics-heating-cooling-plumbing-electrical-0021-559985) — “Services offered (Better Business Bureau): Air Conditioning Contractors” - Also offers Plumbing _(confidence: low)_ - [Better Business Bureau](https://www.bbb.org/us/ma/chelmsford/profile/air-conditioning-contractor/home-mechanics-heating-cooling-plumbing-electrical-0021-559985) — “BBB profile for Home Mechanics - Heating & Cooling, Plumbing & Electrical at 6 McMahon St, Chelmsford, MA 01863: not BBB accredited, rated A…” - Also offers Electrical _(confidence: low)_ - [Better Business Bureau](https://www.bbb.org/us/ma/chelmsford/profile/air-conditioning-contractor/home-mechanics-heating-cooling-plumbing-electrical-0021-559985) — “BBB profile for Home Mechanics - Heating & Cooling, Plumbing & Electrical at 6 McMahon St, Chelmsford, MA 01863: not BBB accredited, rated A…” ## License Status: **not_found** — verified against the official MA state registry, never self-reported.
