A Fine Homebuilding piece has described the company's office in Kent, Conn., a house built in the 1920s. A 2025 customer said a planned remodel of the 1970s kitchen in their 1700s farmhouse grew into an entirely new kitchen and mudroom addition, along with painting the entire exterior and interior, significant rot repair, new gutters, HVAC installation, upgraded electrical and floodproofing. That 2025 customer said that when flooding struck Southbury, Dave and Brian drove to the home on a Sunday and spent hours pumping water out of the cellar. A 2025 reviewer said the company had completed two building projects for them, including a build out of a Bensonwood shell home. A 2024 customer said they hired the company for a custom kitchen install and later for rot repair on the side of the house and a deck rebuild. That 2024 customer said the crew was out first thing every morning at the same time, and that Dave was quick to answer a text or pick up a call when he was not on site. A 2024 customer gave one star, saying the company told them a project was finished and then withheld important information for over a month. That 2024 customer said they had already spent thousands of dollars cleaning up and later learned more work needed to be done. Google shows 3.8 stars from 5 ratings, and Houzz shows 2.0 stars from 1 rating. Connecticut lists its home improvement contractor registration, HIC.0557364, as active, held by Hudson Valley Preservation Corp. **Strengths:** - A farmhouse addition — a 2025 customer described a new kitchen and mudroom - A flood-day visit — a 2025 customer said Dave and Brian pumped their cellar - A punctual crew — a 2024 customer said they arrived first thing every morning **Concerns:** - A withheld problem — a 2024 customer said key information came over a month late ## Claims & citations Every claim below is backed by real evidence rows — uncited claims are dropped in code before publication. - Describes itself as a design/build firm that also offers historic preservation services, with 39 years in business _(confidence: medium)_ - [Official Website](http://hvpcorp.com) — “About (self-reported, verbatim): From the rich history of New England styles, to the best of 21st century designs, we offer timeless solutio…” - [Official Website](http://hvpcorp.com) — “Self-reported 39 years in business” - Fine Homebuilding has described the company's office in Kent, Conn., a 1920s house _(confidence: medium)_ - [Local News](https://www.finehomebuilding.com/2024/09/17/a-preservation-focused-approach-to-air-sealing-and-energy-efficiency) — “finehomebuilding.com — The Fine Homebuilding team recently visited Kent, Conn., to take a look at Hudson Valley Preservation ‘s new office. …” - A 2025 customer described a new kitchen and mudroom addition to a 1700s farmhouse, with rot repair, gutters and floodproofing _(confidence: high)_ - [Google Reviews](https://www.google.com/maps/reviews/data=!4m8!14m7!1m6!2m5!1sChZDSUhNMG9nS0VJQ0FnTURBbjRQTUhREAE!2m1!1s0x0:0xbe004d748b255fa2!3m1!1s2@1:CIHM0ogKEICAgMDAn4PMHQ%7C%7C?hl=en-US) — “5★ My husband and I recently had the pleasure of working with Hudson Valley Preservation, and we cannot recommend them highly enough.
