## The honest read

A 2025 customer said Hector and his team took up the old mulch, edged around the gardens, pulled weeds, laid weed fabric, dug up the irises and separated out invading grass, then laid 10 yards of black mulch. J and H Landscaping holds 4.8 stars from 103 Google ratings and an A+ grade from the Better Business Bureau. The company says it serves Wallingford, Cheshire, Meriden and North Haven, and describes its work as landscape design, lawn care, hardscaping and estate maintenance. A 2025 customer named Hector as the owner.

A 2026 customer who bought a home that had been sitting for some time said J and H came within the week to quote and did the yard clean-up the following Monday. A 2025 customer said Hector walked the property within two days of speaking and J and H was onsite the day after quoting for a late fall cleanup. A 2025 customer who hired them for a tree cutting said the tree was cleared down to the stump and the debris removed within a week of the consult. A 2024 customer said Hector's crew cleaned up an overgrown garden, shaped the hedges, built a greenhouse and laid a retaining stone wall the length of the driveway. A 2022 customer said J and H removed underbrush and invasive vines from portions of a 1-acre lot and finished on budget and on schedule.

A recent 1-star review says the business told the customer they would be there, never showed up and said the business was closed. A recent 1-star review complains about nonstop beeping before leaving. A 2024 customer said J and H came out three times and then stopped coming, that parts of the yard were incomplete against the contract's scope of work, and that Hector put it down to the rain; that 2024 customer later wrote that there had been zero contact in three months.

**Strengths:**

- A quick start — a 2025 customer said J and H came the day after quoting
- A stone wall build — a 2024 customer described a retaining wall along the driveway

**Concerns:**
- A missed visit — a recent customer said they never showed up
