## The honest read

J.R. Junk Removal LLC holds a 5-star Google rating from 214 ratings and an A+ grade from the Better Business Bureau. Its website describes work from single-item pickups to full residential clean-outs, and the service area it lists includes New London, Groton, Waterford, East Lyme and Stonington.

A customer said the company took down and removed a gazebo from their deck and was in and out within an hour. In Mystic, a customer said James and Simon removed a deck along with blocks and other materials from under it. A customer said a washer/dryer, a bulky table and a large flat-screen TV were hauled down a flight of stairs, and one said pickup of an old piano was arranged for the next day. A customer with a basement full of mold said items in the tubs were photographed so the customer could decide what to do with them.

A realtor said a large trash pile left behind at a closing was cleared out the very next morning after a call to James. A customer said they swept out the entire garage when they were done, and a customer emptying a rehab property said the space was left swept clean. One customer got a quote and the removal on the same day. A customer also said they offer active-duty discounts.

In a 2025 review, a customer said James removed a large old chicken coop that had been disassembled. In a 2024 review, a customer said James and his crew dismantled an inherited Bowflex with tools because the screws were stripped, and removed old AC units and trash from a remodel. In a 2022 review, a customer described a clean-out of 2,000 lbs of basement paper waste plus three floors and a garage.

**Strengths:**
- Swept-clean spaces — customers said spaces were swept after the removal
- Same-day quote and removal — one customer got both the same day
- Next-day piano pickup — a customer said pickup was arranged for the next day
- Heavy items downstairs — a washer/dryer, table and TV hauled down a flight
- Next-morning trash clearing — a realtor's post-closing pile cleared the next morning
