## The honest read

J.White Contracting's website says it offers metal roof installation and silicone roof coating in the Colchester, South Burlington and Burlington, VT area, and the company claims 54 years in business.

A recent HomeAdvisor customer said they painted the house in two days in hot temperatures and repaired some of the roof at no extra charge. A 2020 customer said John came out the day after being contacted, and he and his crew applied the roof sealant the following day. A 2022 customer said a roof coating with new ridge caps cost a third of what a full roofing job had been quoted, and the team was there and gone in a little over a day.

A 2023 customer said a simple roof repair was followed by three severe leaks and over $70,000 in water mitigation and reconstruction costs, and that John had ghosted them and the State Attorney General's Office. A 2023 customer said much of the paint put on their roof in the fall of 2021 came off once the snow came off the roof, and it was still not fixed. A 2024 customer said fasteners were left protruding and roof coating overspray landed on other parts of the structure. A 2026 customer said a barn roof coating, screw and flashing job cost 8,000 dollars and the barn still leaked.

**Strengths:**
- Next-day roof sealing — a 2020 customer said the crew came the following day
- Lower-cost roof coating — a 2022 customer paid a third of a full-roof quote

**Concerns:**
- Leaks after repair — a 2023 customer reported over $70,000 in water mitigation and reconstruction costs
- Unfinished paint fix — a 2023 customer said peeling roof paint was never fixed
- Leaking barn roof — a 2026 customer said the barn still leaked after the job
