Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor licence, number 217347, is active on the state registry. On its Thumbtack profile it says it has been in the construction field for 20 years. In a 2026 review, the writer said they needed their daughter's closet reframed, which meant cutting the wall out and extending it width wise from 18 inches to 24 inches, and that they were punctual and did a really good job. A 2025 review says they lowered a fan in the writer's family room for a fair price. In a 2025 review, John picked up a storm door the writer had pre-purchased at Lowe's, installed it and painted the front door; that 2025 review says he was on time for the estimate, gave a fair quote, and that he and the other worker were meticulous with both items. Another 2025 review says he built six bureaus for the writer's bedrooms and hauled away two ancient, heavy dressers, and called the price extremely fair for the amount of work involved. In a 2023 review, John redid a bath that was the same as when the house was built in the 60's, with new floors, walls, vanity and lighting, in a house with crooked walls. A separate 2023 review says he repaired a fence by installing a metal post to stabilize it instead of replacing the whole fence, rebuilt the back steps, and gave options depending on the materials the writer preferred. **Strengths:** - Bathroom redo — new floors, walls, vanity and lighting, per a 2023 review - Storm door install — installed it and painted the front door in 2025 - Custom bureaus — built six bedroom bureaus, per a 2025 review - Fair pricing — fair prices and quotes on 2025 jobs ## Claims & citations Every claim below is backed by real evidence rows — uncited claims are dropped in code before publication. - Massachusetts home improvement contractor licence 217347, active on the state registry _(confidence: high)_ - [State License Registry](https://contractorhub.mass.gov/s/hic-contractor-search) — “MA hic license 217347 registry-verified active — registry holder of record: JL'S HANDYMAN SVC'S LLC” - Says on Thumbtack it has been in the construction field for 20 years _(confidence: medium)_ - [Thumbtack](https://www.thumbtack.com/ma/norton/handyman/jls-handyman-svcs-llc/service/468060765005529096) — “About (Thumbtack, self-described): I've been in the construction field for 20 years, what makes me stand out from others is the attention to…” - Reframed a closet in 2026, cutting the wall out and extending it from 18 to 24 inches _(confidence: medium)_ - [Thumbtack](https://www.thumbtack.com/ma/norton/handyman/jls-handyman-svcs-llc/service/468060765005529096) — “5★ JL Handy Man services did exactly what they were hired to do.
