## The honest read

JM Kenny home & barn repair is a Keene business people have called about old barns.

A 2024 customer said a 120-year-old barn needed stabilization and a new corner post after the old post collapsed from dry rot. That customer said John showed up the same day to look, gave a detailed estimate 24 hours later at a price they called very fair, and the stabilization was done in a single day by him and his crew. The same 2024 customer said John followed up over the next couple of weeks to check that the barn was settling correctly.

A 2025 customer said he restored their barn/garage so their cars could be parked inside, and called him reliable from planning to completion.

In a 2025 review, a customer said they paid a deposit of about $1,600 and struggled for three years to schedule restoration work on their barn, with sparse communication. That customer said John agreed to refund half the deposit and deliver the materials, but had not done so. A 2023 reviewer wrote that he disappeared with no estimate, no work completed and no return on phone calls.

**Strengths:**
- Barn stabilization — a 2024 customer said it was done in one day
- Same-day visit — a 2024 customer said John came out the same day

**Concerns:**
- Deposit and scheduling — a 2025 customer waited three years, refund not paid
- Unreturned phone calls — a 2023 reviewer said no estimate or returned calls
