JMC Associates is a Wellesley home inspection firm with unusual staying power — BBB records show it's been operating since 1984, more than four decades, run out of a small team led by Jim McDermott alongside Steve Hussey, Peter Veile and Joe McDermott.

In a 2026 review, a first-time buyer describes inspector Steve walking them through every detail of the house and sending them off with maintenance tips and an open invitation to call with questions later. Back in a 2021 review, a repeat source named Jim, Joe and Ben directly, calling them accommodating on scheduling and "truthful, straight-shooters" rather than alarmist.

But two other reviews describe the opposite of what a home inspection is supposed to catch. In a December 2022 review, a customer says the inspector missed issues in the basement that cost thousands of dollars to fix afterward.
