## The honest read

Just Imagine is a one-person design-build practice out of Concord, run by Christal M. Bjork, and the clearest signal in five years of reviews is how often clients come back. Several say they've worked with her for a decade or longer, and second and third projects — a kitchen one year, a first-floor overhaul the next — turn up again and again in the record.

Per its own site, the company covers architectural details, kitchen and bathroom renovations, interior decorating, and landscape design, and the reviews back that up with specifics rather than generalities. One homeowner describes a 1916 coastal farmhouse's entire first floor renovated, kitchen and bath included; another an 1850s house redesigned to feel "much more spacious and inviting." A lakefront property with a sloped lot and setback restrictions got a half-circle stone patio, knee-high walls, and shallow stone stairs worked into the existing grade — the kind of site-specific problem-solving that keeps coming up.

What separates this from a pure design service is the project management: reviewers describe her bringing in and overseeing the trades, not just handing over a plan. One client credits her with recommending "a phenomenal painter who finished the job," another with a general contractor who "did quality work, on-time." A Houzz profile note flags that several of the platform's five-star reviews are written by those same collaborators — a photographer, a tile company, a builder — rather than by homeowners, which is worth keeping in mind when reading the volume of praise there.

On Houzz, where most of the record lives, she holds a 5.0 average across 28 ratings and 34 hires, plus Best of Houzz recognition in multiple years. Google shows the same pattern on a smaller base. Budget comes up unprompted more than once, with clients describing her as mindful of their limits and willing to push back gently rather than upsell.

Before booking, it's worth asking directly for recent homeowner references given how many of Houzz's reviews come from trade partners, and confirming who holds the license for your specific project — the number on file is a directory listing, not one checked against the state registry. For someone who wants one point of contact steering both the design and the crew doing the work, especially on a project that might grow in scope, the track record here is a long one.

**Strengths:**
- Design-build coordination — pairs design vision with contractors, tile and paint pros
- Long-running clients — several have returned across a decade of projects
- Full remodels — first-floor rewrites, additions, kitchens, and baths by name
- Outdoor design — stone patios, fire pits, and sloped-lot landscaping delivered
- Houzz recognition — named Best of Houzz winner across multiple years

**Concerns:**
- Trade-partner reviews — some Houzz posts come from partners, not homeowners
